Wrong narrator for this series.
Revisado: 11-29-23
The narrator is not meant for books with accents, especially Scottish. Even though I knew is was supposed to be a Scottish brogue, it changed between sad versions of British, Irish or Australian. I had a really difficult time finishing this one, but I muddled through. It is my least favorite of the series so far, but I don't know if it is the storyline or the reader that ruined it for me. I may just have to read the next ones rather than listen.

Historia
Shortly after a young mother mysteriously disappears, a serial killer begins leaving corpses and clues across the Texas Hill Country. Texas Ranger Faith McClellan and her mentor, veteran Ranger Archie Baxter, are assigned to the case. This killer is more clever - and sadistic - than any they’ve ever encountered, and the list of seemingly unrelated female victims is growing by the day - an attorney, a pastor, a stay-at-home mom. The murders feature similar injuries, with a cryptic message carved into each corpse.

Pronunciation is so bad!
Revisado: 08-31-21
Anyone from Texas is cringing at the way the narrator pronounces a lot of the counties and some cities/towns. She really needs to do some research on the names....Comal and Bexar are the worst, but there are others. The story is good, but I think i would have liked it better if I read it rather than listened to it.

Historia
It's customary for Gothic romance novels to include a mysterious girl locked in the attic. Hannah Smith just wishes she wasn't that girl. As a narcoleptic and the companion to an earl's daughter with a strange affliction of her own, Hannah knows she's lucky to have a roof over her head and food in her belly when so many orphans starve on the streets. Yet freedom is something Hannah longs for. She did not, however, want her freedom to arrive in the form of kidnapping.

Narrator is horrible
Revisado: 08-14-19
I like the story, but listening to this narrator is painful. I am going to have to buy the books and read them...I cannot listen to this woman for one more minute!
