Perfectly enjoyable read!

This book is for sheer entertainment. No moralizing, angst or "durm und strang". Just fun. As such, I loved it. If you enjoy well crafted human interaction between adult age groups, with just a touch of magic, this book is for you.

WWII with all the impact

Nurses from before Pearl Harbor to almost the end of the war. It covers the entire gamut of emotions, conditions and horrors as well as the struggle to rebuild shattered bodies, minds and hearts.

If you want to dive headfirst into living history, come take a walk.

Dr. Asaro is a brilliant author, combining beautifully written stories with Feynman-style applicable math and science examples. Even if you aren't a science or math geek, you will be drawn into these various tales. She's that good!

Brilliant, as always

The author's distinctive style, vivid characters and tight storylines are hallmarks of his craft. He is so consistent, yet so surprising and deft in the story development, that I order his books without even reading the synopsis. There are very few authors I am both that confident and intrigued by to make it a true statement.
The synopsis you can can get elsewhere. Suffice it to say that this book interleaves characters and developments from all the previous books, yet can be read as a standalone tale. You will get much greater richness from having read at least a few of the earlier works. If you love getting lost in a book, this is one you may happily jump into and float away on the fantasy.

In a word, brilliant

Short version, survival and coping mechanisms on many levels. Abuse, both human and animal, and it's consequences. The family you choose, rather than whatever family you have, and the lengths they will go to defend one of their own. Empathy, and it's lack. I'm not going to give a synopsis here, just my reaction. F. Scott Fitzgerald would have read this and approved.

A worthy addition to these Clermont saga. It can be read as an addendum or a stand alone book. As richly detailed as the previous three books, it fleshes out the supporting cast, and brings an important second tier character to the fore in his own right.

Beautifully crafted

I loved the entire trilogy, the last no less than the other two. A taut narrative, living characters regardless of era kept all the parts moving with no coasting on prose. It's no wonder the tale is being produced as a television series. I would be surprised if it isn't being used in literature and writing classes as a subject.

A delight

I'm not actually a fan of vampire tales but this is a delightful exception. It balances between the past and the present, and is wonderfully deft at handling the various themes and points presented during the story. The characters are current, even the centuries old vampire. The witches are presented as people, not archetypal characters. I loved this installment, and am eager to begin the rest.
