Historia
It’s Gamache’s first day back as head of the homicide department, a job he temporarily shares with his previous second-in-command, Jean-Guy Beauvoir. Flood waters are rising across the province. In the middle of the turmoil a father approaches Gamache, pleading for help in finding his daughter. As crisis piles upon crisis, Gamache tries to hold off the encroaching chaos, and realizes the search for Vivienne Godin should be abandoned. But with a daughter of his own, he finds himself developing a profound, and perhaps unwise, empathy for her distraught father.

Disappointing
Revisado: 09-14-19
I love Louise Penny and her Inspector Gamache but this was not one of her better efforts. A lot of description and not much plot.

In this breathtaking and beautiful novel, the #1 New York Times best-selling author Anna Quindlen creates an unforgettable portrait of a mother, a father, a family, and the explosive, violent consequences of what seem like inconsequential actions.

Disapointing
Revisado: 10-23-10
I really liked the first half of this book. The set up to the tragedy was good-I cared about the characters, ect. And the actual event was very surprising. After that however, it was how one person copes with grief. Maudlin and not very original. Narration was good but overall I felt rather let down by the second half.

Historia
To five-year-old Jack, Room is the entire world. It is where he was born and grew up; it's where he lives with his Ma as they learn and read and eat and sleep and play. At night, his Ma shuts him safely in the wardrobe, where he is meant to be asleep when Old Nick visits. Room is home to Jack, but to Ma, it is the prison where Old Nick has held her captive for seven years. Through determination, ingenuity, and fierce motherly love, Ma has created a life for Jack. But she knows it's not enough...not for her or for him.

Stunning
Revisado: 10-23-10
One of the most original books I have ever listened to. I finished it a week ago and cannot stop thinking about Jack and his mom. I was hesitant to listen to this at first because I thought it would be depressing and the voice of a five year old annoying, Not at all-it is just incredible. Because of my job, I listen to audiobooks almost everynight-across all kinds of genres and this is one of the best.

Worth the Trouble
Revisado: 09-13-09
At first, I was very disapointed and almost gave it up. It was quite tedious-so much detail. But, I enjoyed the first book so much that I kept on going. And it was definitely worth it! It really picks up after a while-lots of action, unique characters and wonderful narration. Love this series!
