The excellence of the spun tale!!!!
Revisado: 09-10-24
I am so excited by this new book…probably one of Craig Johnson’s best. Such a carefully spun tale…and such a great snap back to ‘current’ times. The ending is a good surprise, as is the judge’s part in all of the book. Enjoyed it very much!

Historia
Winner of such prestigious honors as the Booker Prize and Whitbread Award, Ian McEwan is justifiably regarded as a modern master. Set in 1972, Sweet Tooth follows Cambridge student Serena Frome, whose intelligence and beauty land her a job with England's intelligence agency, MI5. In an attempt to monitor writers' politics, MI5 tasks Serena with infiltrating the literary circle of author Tom Healy. But soon matters of trust and identity subvert the operation.

What a wonderful ending and the author brings it right back to main character.

Life is not perfect..,we do the best we know to do and that is not always consciously. However, lousy decisions are not always made with malicious intent. I just watched a movie and it ended with a comment like this…and they lived happily ever after..:oh no…life is hard work…they had a happy life…

Historia
In 1761, on a sunny day in September, a King and Queen met for the very first time. They were married within hours. Born a German Princess, Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz was beautiful, headstrong, and fiercely intelligent… not precisely the attributes the British Court had been seeking in a spouse for the young King George III. But her fire and independence were exactly what she, and her King, needed. Because George has secrets… secrets with the potential to shake the very foundations of the monarchy.

Kind and Gentle Story
Revisado: 06-22-24
The kind, understanding, supportive, love between King George and Queen Charlotte is a stark contrast to the narrow vision and fear of many. The growth of complex characters holds the reader’s interest. Another Julia Quinn fine work.

He Rolled Taking Chet With Him
Revisado: 05-16-24
I enjoyed the language plays - confusion and meaning inferences, different viewpoint for telling of the story, and mischief by Chet. While I don’t find the story to be totally intriguing, I find it most enjoyable…a nice easy listen.

Historia
“Homecoming” takes us back to Ford County, the fictional setting of many of John Grisham’s unforgettable stories. Jake Brigance is back, but he’s not in the courtroom. He’s called upon to help an old friend, Mack Stafford, a former lawyer in Clanton, who three years earlier became a local legend when he stole money from his clients, divorced his wife, filed for bankruptcy, and left his family in the middle of the night, never to be heard from again—until now. Now Mack is back, and he’s leaning on his old pals, Jake and Harry Rex, to help him return. His homecoming does not go as planned.

Historia
Before he retired, J. P. Beaumont had looked forward to having his days all to himself. But too much free time doesn't suit a man used to brushing close to danger. When his longtime nemesis, retired Seattle crime reporter Maxwell Cole, dies in what's officially deemed to be an accidental fire, Beau is astonished to be dragged into the investigation at the request of none other than the deceased victim himself. In the process Beau learns that just because a long-ago case was solved doesn't mean it's over.

Kept me wondering
Revisado: 09-13-20
Perhaps the best so far in this series. I was glad when Josh finally found a lady, but I kept guessing g at the conclusion of this mystery until the very end. I enjoy the way Leah is involved in the story, and the way Trudy relays messages. The series is very skillfully connecting the books. Good read.

So many levels to think on!
Revisado: 06-27-20
Such a great read, especially after having read The Pact. So much to think about, such sadness. Yet so much warmth and hope and hopelessness. Demonstrates the cruel side of people, shallow people. And the true integrity of people, sometimes young people. Many switchbacks, yet not confusing...building. Great read, both books. Now I am on to the third book with Jordan as a character!

Historia
We expect our judges to be honest and wise. Their integrity and impartiality are the bedrock of the entire judicial system. We trust them to ensure fair trials, to protect the rights of all litigants, to punish those who do wrong, and to oversee the orderly and efficient flow of justice. But what happens when a judge bends the law or takes a bribe? It’s rare, but it happens. Lacy Stoltz is an investigator for the Florida Board on Judicial Conduct. She is a lawyer, not a cop, and it is her job to respond to complaints dealing with judicial misconduct.

Once again Grisham has kept my attention, swerved in directions I had not anticipated, spun a great yarn. I like his humane threads and his tears of frustration and dismay. Good read.
