Historia
Ever since I met my handsome husband Dr Gabe Bonneville, I started playing the role of the perfect housewife. He works hard as a surgeon, so I look after our home, and throw elaborate dinner parties with champagne cocktails for his best friends Hugh and Anita. He’s my safe place and my chance to have the family I’ve always wanted. I’ve managed to hide the mornings when I wake up and see a face in the shadows. I haven’t told Gabe the truth about the woman who raised me, or told him about the therapy I’ve been getting so my secrets stay hidden in the dark.

Near the end it became clear who was who but not the why until the very end. Performance was good. Would have helped if they had female voice for Darcy.

Historia
Olivia McAfee knows what it feels like to start over. Her picture-perfect life—living in Boston, married to a brilliant cardiothoracic surgeon, raising their beautiful son, Asher—was upended when her husband revealed a darker side. She never imagined that she would end up back in her sleepy New Hampshire hometown, living in the house she grew up in and taking over her father’s beekeeping business. Lily Campanello is familiar with do-overs, too. When she and her mom relocate to Adams, New Hampshire, for her final year of high school, they both hope it will be a fresh start.

This story gobsmacked me; taught me
Revisado: 02-01-23
I have never read either of these authors. They opened up two worlds in this book - one which is more common in books snd openly discussed; one that taught me and touched me about another that our society has been so cruel towards. I have shared this book with others and am debating having for my book club. We r the Strong Women’s Book Club so I think we can handle it. Please, please read it. It will open your mind and heart and gobsmack you.

STOP. You should not have touched this flyer with your bare hands. NO, don't put it down. It's too late. They're watching you. My name is David Wong. My best friend is John. Those names are fake. You might want to change yours. You may not want to know about the things you'll read on these pages, about the sauce, about Korrok, about the invasion, and the future. But it's too late. You touched the book. You're in the game. You're under the eye. The only defense is knowledge. You need to read this book, to the end. Even the part with the bratwurst. Why?

Revisado: 11-06-22
My husband picked this book for a 10 hr trip. After 4 hours, we quit. The narrator was good but didn’t have much to work with. It was eating at a restaurant and ate “soy “sauce. The. There were monsters, goo, etc with absolutely no plot. Terrible.

This author is absolutely a genius with dialogue, words, story and endings. The performance of this book was one of the best. I cannot think of one negative thought about this incredible book and author. It needs to be read or listened to by anyone who loves reading well written books with great story lines that keep you interested and takes time to process the ending. I loved it. Wow!!

The prize-winning and best-selling author of Say Nothing presents a grand, devastating portrait of three generations of the Sackler family, famed for their philanthropy, whose fortune was built by Valium and whose reputation was destroyed by OxyContin. Empire of Pain is a masterpiece of narrative reporting and writing, exhaustively documented and ferociously compelling.

A must read or listen
Revisado: 01-25-22
The author reads the audible. Can’t be better that that! The story is about the dynasty of the Sackler family and their pharmaceutical company Purdue Pharma. I was in health care both as a nurse and later as a health care attorney. I never knew these stories in this book and Dreamland. Greed. Pure greed started and maintained the OxyContin empire and the misery it created thruout the world. So many deaths. When oxy was no longer as available, heroin stepped in to fill the void. It is sad that those people who do need an opiate for chronic pain are denied a drug that could make their life more tolerable. A double edge sword. I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone, along with Dreamland, who is in the health care field. It opens your eyes!

Historia
It is a perfect July morning, and Elle, a 50-year-old happily married mother of three, awakens at “The Paper Palace” - the family summer place she has visited every summer of her life. But this morning is different: Last night, Elle and her oldest friend, Jonas, crept out the back door into the darkness and had sex with each other for the first time, all while their spouses chatted away inside. Now, Elle will have to decide between the life she has made with her genuinely beloved husband and the life she always imagined she would have had with her childhood love.

There is not anything good I can say about this book
Revisado: 08-29-21
The author developed characters that had no redeeming qualities. Maybe Peter. Certainly none of the others. Love story? I don’t think so. It was a story of child neglect, child sexual acts that were accepted, divorces that made marriages vows irrelevant and a lot of swimming in a “pond.” I would not recommend.

Historia
Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband, Gabriel, returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety.

Historia
It's just a small story really, about, among other things, a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak's groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can't resist: books.
