Historia
When she was sixteen years old, Angela Wong—one of the most popular girls in school—disappeared without a trace. Nobody ever suspected that her best friend, Georgina Shaw, now an executive and rising star at her Seattle pharmaceutical company, was involved in any way. Certainly not Kaiser Brody, who was close with both girls back in high school.

I've listened a dozen times at least *spoilers*
Revisado: 12-06-24
I've had this book for years, since 2020 I think. It's amazing. The narration is incredible, the story is so heartbreaking. Normally I'm not crazy about narrators doing voices for the opposite gender but Kai just sounded hot to me. I had no idea where the story was going this whole time, I thought it was all Calvin. Geo's character is complex and fascinating. Her guilt was obvious, but was she was smart and refused to tell the whole story because she knew it was unforgiveable. I disagree with her, obviously, I think it should have all came out. I too have been so drunk I couldn't have stopped something. it's scary

literally, can't stop listening. I'm not even exaggerating.
Revisado: 08-03-24
I've listened to this book 7 times in a row trying to figure it out, and it never gets boring. it's truly incredible, with the voice acting and unreliable narrator. Lisa Jewell is a fantastic author, I wish more of her titles were on sale, but considering how good they are, they don't have to be. Josie is such a creep, and Alix is kind of stupid with how much she let's things go on. maybe more accurately, she's a pushover. the dynamics in this book are always interesting and I'm searching for clues as to what's really going on. amazing!!!

Blast from the past
Revisado: 12-20-23
I read these books when I was a teenager, and they were very formative for me. I will say, now that I am a mother, Kristina makes me absolutely LIVID. This book, as well as Glass, are good reads. It's hard to get past the cringey teen-speak at times, but that IS the point, after all. A lot of people discuss the narrator for this book, and I personally liked her. She brought a very believable air to the story, because she sounds like an over-it teenager. A good mix of poetry and personal inner monologue.

Historia
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

Pretty meh, for a Hillier novel
Revisado: 12-09-23
This is the third Jennifer Hillier novel I've read (yes I know it was an audiobook), the other two being Little Secrets and Jar of Hearts. I absolutely adored those, I've listen to them each at least 3 times, so when this came out I was pumped. I did not enjoy it, I'm sorry to say. This one felt like it should have ended in a few different places, I called the twists from a mile away, and I just wasn't as engaged. Normally when I read Hillier, I just see color, it's so vibrant. I guess I just wasn't totally vibing with this one lol.

The Manipulator. I can manipulate the emotions of anyone who lets me. I will make you hurt, make you cry, make you laugh and sigh. But my words don't affect him. Especially not when I plead for him to leave. He's always there, watching and waiting. And I can never look away. Not when I want him to come closer. The Shadow. I didn't mean to fall in love. But now that I have, I can't stay away. I'm mesmerized by her smile, by her eyes, and the way she moves. I'll keep watching and waiting. Until I can make her mine. And once she is, I'll never let her go.

literally fanfiction
Revisado: 10-30-23
this showed up in the horror tag, and the vague description hooked me in. I ignored the reviews, wanted to give it a shot.
it reads like "I'm 14 and this is deep", in the "I'm actually a werewolf" territory. complete with the majorly long descriptions of edgy outfits and the main character having heterochromia (forgive me if im incorrect in that word). What in the My Chemical Romance meets 50 shades of gray is this..?
it's also kind of vile, if the author had ever experienced this kind of thing they would not be writing about it as if it's something desirable.
and the writing isn't even tasteful! it's all swear words and melodrama. If done well, I can enjoy it, this was not done well.
i do not recommend. sad I can't return it.

Revisado: 03-04-22
I thought she did a great job. People are saying she sounded bored, but I think that's perfect for Katniss's character. She put a lot of effort in when emotions were called for, like pain, sadness, or that one part where she giggles.
