Turns out, just what I needed in my life was a car ride, a walk in the park and some time watching the bumble bees flying around my garden while listening to Getting Started with Jesus: The Process for Spiritual Growth and Maturity. The smooth calming voice of narrator, Dr. Sequina DuBose carried me through the story that was written by her mother, Regina DuBose. Listening to the audio book while my husband read the actual book was pleasant, informative and enlightening. Regina DuBose did a splendid job of communicating her journey through life in the pages of this book. Her ability to weave the scriptures, life principals and her experiences into a message of hope is remarkable. I found the messages and meanings of the stories to be transparent and so appropriate to the current messes we face in life. To hear her story through the story of the Holy Scriptures was awe inspiring and encouraging for the fights we all face. I also appreciated the simple applications she espoused especially in chapters 3 and 4. The trials, tribulations, temptations and test are true to all and her words and work is a good testimony to our ability to overcome them. Regina encourages us to stay true to relationships and build community where we are and wherever we go. The fellowship of believers is a principle she promotes and opens us all up to her journey and reminds us that it is not always easy, but is very rewarding to our collective journey. This book reminds us that life is a process and a journey to maturity and it is all working together for our good as we put Christ first and seek His Kingdom. It mirrors the fact that we are never alone on this journey called life. Truly a masterful job done on both the side of the author and the audiobook narrator. Thoroughly enjoyed!

This book was a breath of fresh air. In the spring of 2017, I was preparing to weed and feed my lawn which was full of clovers and some dandelions. I asked myself, why are you trying to kill them when you don’t even know why they’re there? That question rang like a church bell on the inside of me like so many other things had been of late. I immediately stopped what I was doing and searched for the purpose of clovers and dandelions. Needless to say, I didn’t weed and feed that day and haven’t since. I’ve been on a journey of listening and learning and this book has given me hope for a return to a simple life. One day and one step at a time. Thank you!
