Uplifting and Accessible
Revisado: 03-27-25
The Art of Building a Growth Mindset by Thinknetic is such an uplifting and accessible read. The author manages to break down the concept of a growth mindset in a way that feels effortless, without ever seeming too academic or intimidating. By the end, you’ll feel like you’ve gained a supportive coach who’s cheering you on to discover hidden skills and embrace each hurdle as a chance to learn and grow.

Insightful and Practical
Revisado: 01-20-25
I picked up 5 Secrets to Effortless Small Talk hoping to improve my ability to comfortably chat with new people, and I have to say, I found it surprisingly insightful and practical. While I’ve read my share of communication guides before, this one struck a nice balance between giving structured techniques and sharing relatable anecdotes.
One of my favorite parts was how the book zeroes in on the importance of asking open-ended questions—something I knew in theory but never fully grasped how to do in the moment. The authors describe a clear strategy for formulating these questions rather than throwing out the usual generic icebreakers. It felt fresh because instead of a dry list of “try this line or that line,” they offer examples of how to adapt questions based on context—like how you might tailor a conversation starter at a work conference versus a friend’s house party.
I also appreciated the emphasis on the subtlety of listening. So many communication books will say, “Listen actively,” without explaining how to demonstrate that you’re actually invested in the conversation. Here, the authors break down the difference between simply hearing someone’s words and proactively engaging—through confirming statements, clarifying questions, and reflective feedback. It reminded me to be a more mindful conversationalist rather than someone just waiting for my turn to talk.
Another highlight was the advice on handling lulls or awkward pauses. Normally, I’d panic or try to fill silence with random chatter. The book’s tips on allowing just enough pause to let someone formulate their thoughts or gently pivoting to an adjacent topic if the current one seems exhausted made me realize how natural conversation can be if you don’t force it.
On the downside, I found some of the “secret” headings a bit gimmicky—like they were trying to market the content more than simply presenting it. But once I got past the slightly over-the-top chapter titles, the essence of each “secret” was solid. The writing style also tends toward the enthusiastic end of the spectrum, so if you prefer a more understated approach, you might have to overlook the occasional burst of pep talk.
By the time I finished, I actually felt more confident and eager to practice these skills. I tested a couple of their strategies at a small community meetup, and it was pleasantly surprising how much easier it was to spark and maintain conversation. If you’re looking for concrete advice rather than high-level theory, this book delivers. It won’t magically turn you into a social butterfly overnight, but it provides a toolkit to reduce those awkward silences and carry a dialogue with ease.

Resonates With Me
Revisado: 01-14-25
Rodney Noble's book resonated deeply with me. I've always been prone to overthinking, which constantly sabotaged my relationships. Noble's approach is refreshingly practical. He doesn't just identify the problem; he provides concrete tools to overcome it. I particularly appreciated the emphasis on mindfulness and self-compassion. Learning to observe my thoughts without judgment and to treat myself with kindness has been transformative.
One of the key takeaways from the book is the importance of cultivating mindfulness in our relationships. By focusing on the present moment and being more intentional about shared experiences, I have found that I can connect with my partner on a deeper level. I also appreciate the emphasis on open and honest communication, allowing me to express my needs and concerns more clearly and assertively.
In addition, I have found that practicing self-compassion has been a crucial aspect of breaking the cycle of overthinking. By being kinder to myself and acknowledging my imperfections, I can forgive myself and others more easily.
I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking to improve their relationship dynamics. While my experience may not be universally applicable, the book offers a valuable resource for those struggling with relationship anxiety.

Did you know that 93 percent of CEOs agree that this skill is more important than your college degree? Amazon's market cap is 1.7 trillion dollars. And it all started when Jeff Bezos used this skill to see a market inefficiency back in the day, before anyone else. Having this skill in your back pocket is like shortcutting Malcom Gladwell's 10,000 hours rule to learning something (who's got time for that?). So, what is it? Nothing complex or fancy. It's critical thinking. This audiobook is dedicated to imparting to you the maxims of how to think critically.
