Historia
There is no question that the United States faces dangerous threats from without; the greatest peril to the country, however, comes from within. In The Bill of Obligations, bestselling author Richard Haass argues that, to solve our climate of division and safeguard our democracy, the very idea of citizenship must be revised and expanded. The Bill of Rights is at the center of our Constitution, yet the most intractable conflicts often emerge from cases that, as former Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer pointed out, “are not about right versus wrong. They are about right versus right.”

The hatred the doctor has for Trump
Revisado: 01-18-25
Obligation as informed engaged citizens in a democracy but doctor Haas leaned towards a democracy accepting indecency such as same sex marriage and the killing of babies? Shouldn’t a pregnant woman have an obligation to carry that baby and stop putting compromise and obligation on those who oppose? Compromising on fundamentals is unacceptable you even said it yourself. Also you said obligation is a moral responsibility not a legal responsibility.

Historia
Nearly half of US citizens over the age of 85 are suffering from some kind of dementia and require care. Loving Someone Who Has Dementia is a new kind of caregiving book. It's not about the usual techniques, but about how to manage on-going stress and grief. The book is for caregivers, family members, friends, and neighbors, as well as educators and professionals - anyone touched by the epidemic of dementia. Dr. Boss helps caregivers find hope in "ambiguous loss" - having a loved one both here and not here, physically present but psychologically absent.

New Yorker author so excuse her
Revisado: 06-06-23
You can tell she’s a communist democrat from NY, but political opinions aside, it’s great in-site on the problems families if LO deal with.

Historia
No city was more of a help to Abraham Lincoln and the Union war effort - or more of a hindrance. No city raised more men, money, and matériel for the war, and no city raised more hell against it. It was a city of patriots, war heroes, and abolitionists but simultaneously a city of antiwar protest, draft resistance, and sedition. Without his New York supporters, it's highly unlikely Lincoln would have made it to the White House.

Civil War buff must have.
Revisado: 09-18-16
Well read and incredible research shared by author to help me visualize some of what went on in nearby New York City at the time leading up to the Civil War.
