Historia
The Antidote is a series of journeys among people who share a single, surprising way of thinking about life. What they have in common is a hunch about human psychology: that it’s our constant effort to eliminate the negative that causes us to feel so anxious, insecure, and unhappy. And that there is an alternative "negative path" to happiness and success that involves embracing the things we spend our lives trying to avoid.

I warmed up to this book...bonus as sleep med
Revisado: 11-11-17
I'm glad I waited a few days after finishing this book before writing a review. The more I reflected on this book, the more I liked it. Performance was great, the writing was great. The story also great, but a wee bit uneven. I confess I had to start it over and over and over again. Not because it was too much to digest in one sitting. More due to the fact it would put me to sleep almost immediately (an undocumented benefit). So in short I have heard this book several times. I guess I learned it's OK not to be positive all the time. You're setting yourself up for failure if you do. An enjoyable listen. Always fun when the author narrates.

Historia
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

Don't understand why this book gets good reviews?
Revisado: 09-14-17
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
No, I would not recommend this book to anyone. It has a strong beginning and a strong end, but not worth a full end to end listen. Most of the middle bits of the book over explain what an asshole the author has been most of his life pre 30. It's easy for anyone not to give a f*ck most of their life. Thought the concept had promise after the first chapter, but it quickly just became an annoying summary of all his conquests of women and hitting 50 countries. I'm kind of jealous he's making so much money off this book that over explains the obvious. Any who, I'm clearly a minority voice in the reviewing ether sphere. For me it was largely a waste of time with good points few and far between. There were some gems in there, but it was a long slog to mine them.
Have you listened to any of Roger Wayne’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Roger Wayne did a fine job.
Was The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck worth the listening time?
Thank goodness it was not any longer. It was hard enough to get through the 4 hours. Tempted to return it, but I did see it to the end.

Historia
On May 1, 1915, with WWI entering its tenth month, a luxury ocean liner as richly appointed as an English country house sailed out of New York, bound for Liverpool, carrying a record number of children and infants. The passengers were surprisingly at ease, even though Germany had declared the seas around Britain to be a war zone. For months, German U-boats had brought terror to the North Atlantic.

Great story well told.. Too bad about the reader.
Revisado: 12-05-15
If you could sum up Dead Wake in three words, what would they be?
Very well crafted!
Who was your favorite character and why?
All the characters are well described. Therefore all of them.
What didn’t you like about Scott Brick’s performance?
Oh my, where to begin? The quivering lipped lyrical delivery of EVERY SINGLE LINE makes it nearly impossible to listen to. The ONLY time Scott sounds like a normal person is when he's reading the credits at the end. Every tear soaked line delivery really spoiled the experience for me. Every line sounded like a question or worse. Instant headache. I would like to know what you thought?

Why we think it’s a great listen: Seabiscuit was a runaway success, and Hillenbrand’s done it again with another true-life account about beating unbelievable odds. On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared....

Revisado: 08-02-15
I liked every aspect of this book. A skillful telling of a fantastic story. I really enjoyed the performance from Edward. Unlike "sniper" the presenter had no fake accents, no fake intonation, just a pure reading. Well done. I'll read this again! Thank you Laura. I have to find out about sea biscuit now. Which was right up there with flying to Neptune until now.

I could listen to David Morse ALL day
Revisado: 06-12-15
If you could sum up Revival in three words, what would they be?
No such thing as a bad King
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Great Plot, great pace.
Which character – as performed by David Morse – was your favorite?
ALL the characters performed by David were my favourites. Soooooo much better performer than Will Patton! I wish David would perform more Kings. I suspect he is way too busy to do any more. A must listen, if only for David's performance.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Historia
From 1999 to 2009, U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle recorded the most career sniper kills in United States military history. The Pentagon has officially confirmed more than 150 of Kyles kills (the previous American record was 109), but it has declined to verify the astonishing total number for this book. Iraqi insurgents feared Kyle so much they named him al-Shaitan ("the devil") and placed a bounty on his head.

Glad I listened but......
Revisado: 03-22-15
Failed expectations. Quite a frustrating listen actually, Hoped this story might have been a bit more balanced. Great story for the wildly patriotic Christians in the crowd. Amazing anyone this involved with a conflict can see the world through a one sided mirror. Oh well, not much to learn as a take away from this one. The narrator is good. The Texas twang might wear on you after a while. Not the best use of your listening time for sure.

Can't think of a better way to spend the evenings. A great story is no fun if the performance sucks. The performance on this audible is great, given by a veteran odd presenter.

After three acclaimed novels - The Russian Debutante's Handbook, Absurdistan, and Super Sad True Love Story - Gary Shteyngart turns to memoir in a candid, witty, deeply poignant account of his life so far.
Shteyngart shares his American immigrant experience, moving back and forth through time and memory with self-deprecating humor, moving insights, and literary bravado. The result is a resonant story of family and belonging that feels epic and intimate and distinctly his own. Provocative, hilarious, and inventive, Little Failure reveals a deeper vein of emotion in Gary Shteyngart' s prose.

Great performance.. Could do without the effort for fake Russian accents. Would have been better straight up English, without the poor attempts at foreign accents. They all sound like bad variations of Dracula.

Critics have called her “sweet, adorable, and vicious.” But there is so much more to be said about Samantha Bee. For one, she’s Canadian - whatever that means. And now, she opens up for the very first time about her checkered Canadian past. With charming candor, she admits to her Lennie from Of Mice and Men-style love of baby animals, her teenage crime spree as one-half of a car-thieving couple, and the fact that strangers seem compelled to show her their genitals.

Hmmmm a pet person eh? I Don't think so. This is a sad story. Most funny people have a sad up brInging. Gives a new insight into Sam. If I was not so structured, I would have given up on this in the first 10 minutes. Sam you're great, but as you know your life sucks. This is why you're great. Unfortunately, I am not sure who convinced you to tell us your lifes story. No offense. Must have been the money.
