Historia
When summoned to a fantastical world and granted powers by a broken System, most freshly minted protagonists would strap on their big-boy boots and get ready for their stats to start climbing. But Fischer isn't like most MCs. In fact, he doesn't want to be a hero at all. Fame? Fortune? Power? He had enough of all that in his old life. Discovering forbidden fishing techniques and petting every cute animal that comes within scritching distance? Now that's a good time.

Slow build to a good story
Revisado: 02-15-24
The first book seems like it’s written by someone spending way too much time playing Left4Dead, but stick with it to the bridge as it really starts to come together from there on in some neat ways.

A very enjoyable story with a strong protagonist. The story gets a little preachy about saving the oceans but it is well mingled with the narrative and characters. As others have pointed out the narrator in the Audible version wasn't the best for this type story, but is tolerable. If I had a real complaint its the lack of chapters in the Audible version. There is no break from the end of one chapter from the other, luckily I had read this on kindle long ago so I kind of knew what was going on, I can imagine first time listeners not realizing when one scene ended and getting confused at what seems like weird time skips and character teleportation.

Historia
With the end of the Civil War, the nation recommenced its expansion onto traditional Indian tribal lands, setting off a wide-ranging conflict that would last more than three decades. In an exploration of the wars and negotiations that destroyed tribal ways of life even as they made possible the emergence of the modern United States, Peter Cozzens gives us both sides in comprehensive and singularly intimate detail.

Historia
In the summer of 1846, the Army of the West marched through Santa Fe, en route to invade and occupy the Western territories claimed by Mexico. Fueled by the new ideology of “Manifest Destiny,” this land grab would lead to a decades-long battle between the United States and the Navajos, the fiercely resistant rulers of a huge swath of mountainous desert wilderness.

I enjoyed this audiobook. I did not find the opinions and license of assumptions based on research by the author to be unacceptable as other reviewers have.

Historia
The citizens of Azurvale are starting to feel the pressure. War with the Empire to the south is imminent, and there's talk of the city's adventurers being drafted into the campaign. Though this conflict seems inevitable and promises to be horrific, the common folk can do little but act like there's nothing wrong. Rather than lose sleep over something so wildly out of their control, they instead worry about tiny, personal, inconsequential issues. However, the people of Azurvale have yet to find out that their capital is already under threat.

Was tiring of the series but this one fired me back up
Revisado: 12-07-22
The horny teenager nature of the earlier books and the lack of grand adventure had me cooling on this series and I was going to call it quits after this book. However, the last half of this one gave a glimpse into the authors ability to spin a grand tale and made me want to hang around longer. Plus for all his monsterness Boxxy is so damn tasty. The audio effects had me cringing during the first half of this book, don’t remember the first 3 being that way so not sure if that is just Soundbooth Theater trying new things… but I will admit it grew on me as well by the end of the book and I started to appreciate it more.

The apocalypse will be televised! You know what’s worse than breaking up with your girlfriend? Being stuck with her prize-winning show cat. And you know what’s worse than that? Historia
A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

Dumb, not in a good way.. in the lazy writer way
Revisado: 02-26-20
This review has nothing to do with the narrator of the audio, he was perfect. My critique is of the author. To the best of my knowledge this is the first series I have given up on part way through. I knew going it that it would be dumb, silly, immature, etc and I was completely willing to accept these things. What I couldn’t accept and what finally ground things to a halt part way into book 4 was the fact that it’s just dumb... the characters are dumb their actions are dumb their motivations are dumb and the world is dumb. The final straw began with the proposal in the feces filled room of an unsecured structure... wtf? You build Ezekiel up as a ladies man and he plan plans to kneel in crap in an uncleared building and propose marriage.... yeah spoiler alert. Then we conveniently lose four guys we captured yesterday to Looney Tunes style booby traps and find 3 survivors too many at the end of the structure so after listening to a minute of dialog about other survivors in the attached office one dude rushes in and fatally hits all three with a single three round burst fired in surprise... I was out at this point. My advice is to buy this only during a very cheap sale so you can walk away without remorse like I am.
