my favorite book in the trilogy

All three books in the series are amazingly captivating lesbian romances and I would recommend reading them in order, otherwise you will already know how the other two books turn out if you read this one first. This, however, is definitely most sexually adventurous one... enjoy!!

you really have to be able to get past the narrator messing up the pronunciation of a few nuanced words and not knowing that MI6 is M.I.6 not M. 16, etc, but truly the books are fantastic and suspenseful! 💞

Feminists, read this book!

I loved everything about this book, including that it's read by the author. Her struggle is beautiful and raw. If you've taken a Women's Studies course, you will really feel at home in her recollection of when she first read Adrienne Rich, Gloria Anzaldua, Judith Butler, Tillie Olsen, and Audre Lorde, which preciously was aloud to her infant daughter. (It was a happy return to 20 years ago, for me.) Her journey to empowerment and confidence is relatable yet so smart and reflective beyond herself to the misogyny of children's fairy tales and the targeting of women who have dared to be different in history. Already, I've recommended it to feminist friends. Honestly, I love this book. I feel like I know Ariel now and am searching out her other books.

great story... disappointing narrator

I love Sherrilyn Kenyon as an author and the story did not disappoint in an already great series. However, especially in this book, I noticed that the narrator mispronounced a number of words, like for example apropos. 😑 If that kind of thing annoys you, you'll want to read the ebook and stay away from this version.

another great Eliza Andrews book!

this is a beautiful love story and definitely reflects a lot of struggles that people in relationships, especially lesbians go through on a quest for self-acceptance and happiness. also, if you happen to be a history teacher, you will especially appreciate some of the nuances of one of the main characters and what she's struggling with in this book. It's also a great story of getting involved in local government and/or grassroots organizing.

This story was a thoughtful reimagining that actually worked. definitely some clever allegories and symbolism here. I will probably never look at an albino python quite the same way again though. :-D
