Historia
Since she went straight, Annie Kincaid's been applying her genius for fine art forgery to her own faux finishing business in San Francisco. She hasn't seen the inside of a jail cell since she was 17, although sometimes it takes all of her arts-fine or otherwise-to keep it that way.... Annie knows that art security can be inadequate, but it's crazy to think that an Old Master painting could be hanging unguarded in the local columbarium where she's doing restoration work. Still, when she gets a tip that the chapel's copy of Raphael's exquisite La Fornarina might be the real thing, Annie has to take a look.

PLEEEEZZZZ ma'am can we have more??
Revisado: 03-23-19
How does Ms Blackwell manage to so easily create such real characters?? While her fantasy series are good - she excels at the real stuff! When each book ends I'm already missing the people in it. Annie, Frank and Michael are so real I know their lives are going on anyway. Ms Blackwell spends interesting tales woven with real information but never does it feel like an "info dump" just to show off the story's research. It all just flows. I need to know how Annie & Michael's business goes, does she ever have "the talk" with Josh, does Frank finally win her heart???

Excellent writing and narration but took a while to come together. Seemed a bit random at first but Ms Chase did her usual excellent job of winding it all up by the end. Not my favorite of the 4 Scoundrels stories but still a good listen.

This is supposed to be HOT????
Revisado: 12-15-12
This was my first try at a BDSM/Erotica book and the reviews said it was HOT! ALL the reviews! So I figured it couldn't miss. But what a dissappointment!
Seems like all the supposed HOT was in the "yes sir" and "I'm going to tie you up" dialogue. The sex itselft passed so quickly I actually slept thru the first one. So I replayed to see what I'd missed and realized I hadn't missed much at all. I finally got too bored to even finish it.
The story was slow, the guy (strong, silent type) was into playing his silly game and the poor girl was just so young and horney she was willing to put up with his nonsense. I kept wondering how long it would have taken the guy to say "ok" if she had just said I'm not doing all the stupid stuff and if you want me then you need to get over your silly dominance sh*t. I wouldn't have put up with it for 5 minutes and only that long because I would have been laughing in his face for at least three minutes first. Ideally the older you get the less intrigued you are by silly, egotistical men - at least I know I haven't had any patience for that type in years.
My victorian romance and vampire books are SO MUCH HOTTER AND SEXIER!! Hey the Twilight Books had hotter sex scenes. I'm really hoping the other 2 titles I bought aren't as tame and boring. Sorry to say this will be the first book that I take advantage or the return policy with.

Undead and Uninteresting ...
Revisado: 07-03-12
I do so love Betsy and Sinc-lair and Tina and the whole bunch but unfortunately this series seems to be running out of steam. Lots of relatively random "stuff" went on in this book but nothing ever seemed to actually happen. I enjoyed learning more background but otherwise the book was not all that engaging. It felt like Ms Davidson was really struggling to think up things for Betsy to do.
If I hadn't already listened to (and loved) the previous ones I'm not sure I would have even finished listening to this one. It sort of droned on and then something would happen and then it would drone on again and then something else would happen that wasn't really related to the first thing that had happened. There were several times I checked to see how much more was left.
Sinclair was mostly absent. Their relationship was what really made the series for me and without their interaction the rest of it was just time spent hoping for Sinclair and Betsy to get together but it never happened. Even Betsy was getting frustrated at their not connecting.
While I think the narrator does an excellent job, Sinclair's voice seems almost snide when he speaks to Betsy. Sort of like a husband who has a chickie on the side and is just putting up with his dingbat wife who he can just barely stand - there isn't any more chemistry between them. And the way Betsy treats him who could blame him. I'm pretty sure that's not the intent but that's how it strikes me. I don't think I will puchase any more in the series (if there are more). Ms Davidson needs a new vampire to write about (werewolves don't interest me much) because I really do enjoy her writing.

It’s her special “talent” which makes Cadence so valuable to the FBI, and it never comes in handier than when she and her partner, George, get tagged to bring down the Threefer Killer. A serial killer who inexplicably likes to kill in threes, leave behind inexplicable newspaper clippings, and not one shred of decent forensic evidence, soon starts leaving messages that seem to be just for Cadence and her sisters. Could it be that this killer knows all about Cadence’s special “talent”?

Wheels on the bus are flat, flat, flat
Revisado: 09-10-11
Oh dear :(
First let me say I love you MJ but WHAT were you thinking?
I would LOVE to know the back story on this book because it's really one of the weirdest ones I've ever read/listened to. Yes the writing and dialog is great (no surprise here), yes I definitely laughed out loud more than a few times, yes it was ... sort of ... interesting, yes the idea of a main character being a totally wacked out multiple personality disordered person is certainly unique. But with all that going for it - it just never went anywhere and then it was done! It's like she had this idea and then ran out of things to do with it.
It was very difficult to get into and not all that interesting in the beginning (which turned out to be about a third of it) but I kept on listening because I couldn't believe MJ wouldn't turn it around and make it worth the wait. But I was wrong.
There was a really nice thread of a love story that could have gone in some REALLY interesting directions but MJ totally dropped the ball on that which was probably the most disappointing part of the whole thing. How can you throw away a story about a relationship between 3 persons in the same body and a guy who thinks it's a hoot? A guy who doesn't mind not know who will show up for a date? A guy who picks fights in a parking lot to watch his girl kick butt??
If you can get it free from your local lending library it's not a bad read but otherwise save your credits for Queen Betsy. I wish I had.

Pales in Comparison
Revisado: 08-11-11
I looked forward to this book so much that in order to prolong the pleasure I reread the previous book before starting it. Unfortunately it was a disappointment. The only reason this book "went anywhere" was because they were on a road trip and went from Cinci to the West Coast. I read about the idea that MS Harrison had for the road trip theme but it was weak at best. The action seemed sort of random like she had to find something for someone to do at intervals along the way. I did enjoy the softening of Al but Pierce was a total stick in this one - going from a hottie to an incidental character with little chemistry between him and Rachel. And then there is the "new" Trent - who seems a bit nicer and apparently also in love with Rachel. She's a lucky gal - everyone (Al, Pierce, Trent, and Ivy) seems to be in love with her but they all wind up disappointing her in one way or the other. You would think after this many books there would be SOMEONE she could count on who won't kill, use, eat her? And her "poor me I'm a victim" attitude is REALLY starting to get OLD!
Let her glory in what she is - live half in both dimensions and kick butt in both - it's about freakin' time!

Time Well Spent!
Revisado: 02-21-11
Really good read!
It seemed to jump right into the very interesting story which at first left me with lots of questions. But the back story was well woven into the plot and all of my questions were ultimately answered and everything came together as the story progressed. It is a wonderful love story with interesting characters. At times the dialogue seemed somewhat predictable but I almost feel saying that is being way too picky. I thoroughly enjoyed it and the only thing that disappointed me was the ending which left lots of opportunity for a second book. There WILL be a second book - won't there???
Even at 13+ hours it went quickly - I hated to put it down to go to bed. The narrator also did an excellent.job. I highly recommend this book - it's definitly worthy of a credit!
Hmm ... and now that I'm rereading my review - I think I'll just go listen to it again :)

There are places in the world where darkness rules, where it's unwise to walk. Sunshine knew that. But there hadn't been any trouble out at the lake for years, and she needed a place to be alone for a while. Unfortunately, she wasn't alone. She never heard them coming. Of course you don't, when they're vampires.

Revisado: 05-19-10
What a terrific story. I do agree about the info-dumps tho - the author needs to work more of her research into the story rather than just dumping it out onto the pages. But having said that I would love to see what happens next. At the end I had soooo many questions and really feel there is so much more left to tell. Please please please Ms McKinley - can you give us more of Sunshine's story???
