Writing and performance is good. I don’t like when storyline is interrupted so that I have to read a whole new story. I’ve always hated this. And the fact that the book inside the book was an unimaginative christie rip off made it very annoying. It’s a gimmick that for some reason some writers think is clever. I hate getting invested in a story only to have the ambiance and flow interrupted to be rudely shove into another era and style .

This is more a guided meditation and vague affirmations. Might help so people relax but I doubt if will help curb binging. Hypnotic suggestion to vague. And it so drawn out that it get distracted

A fun cozy with ghosts and cats

This could have been really good, but...

While the main antagonist is middle age, it read more like a bland children’s book. I usually prefer transgressive fiction, absurd comedy, history and horror. However, I occasionally just want short , light, cute, but easy to follow. This was more just boring. I think a more whimsical style of narration could have help, such as Fischer Stevens does for Christopher Moore books. Honestly (as much as I hate to criticize a professional writer because I sure as s$!t can’t write) it was just boring and limited in imagination.
-The story outline while not original is good.
- All the characters need a lot more development. Especially the antagonist, so boring.
- Love interest needs to be less of an archaic stereotype . I personal think something like a based on Steve Buscemi characters would be much more fun. Or maybe Gary Oldman’s version of Commissioner Gordon.
- All the middle age characters being super attractive and well adjusted. It smack of narcissistic fantasies.
-Writer should Read scientific studies on cat behavior. Focus more on the cats actions instead of cartoon-ish feline dialogue.
-The first person account is really clunky switching between the humans an cats. An omnipotent narrater could have reduced boring dialogue. If the antagonist wasn’t sharing every thought with other characters, the writer could have created entraining tension between the antagonist and law enforcement and and other characters.
- Writer should have researched how law enforcement investigates an unattended deaths (death not in hospital or hospice); the writers ignorance shows.
- Writer should have interview civilians that have actually found the body of someone they knew. It’s traumatic in very sad and strangely humorous ways.
If your looking for cat mysteries I’d stick with the Joe Grey series.
