Historia
White House, Inc. is a newsmaking exposé that details President Trump’s efforts to make money off of politics, taking us inside his exclusive clubs, luxury hotels, overseas partnerships, commercial properties, and personal mansions. Alexander tracks hundreds of millions of dollars flowing freely between big businesses and President Trump. He explains, in plain language, how Trump tried to translate power into profit, from the 2016 campaign to the ramp-up to the 2020 campaign.

Amazing Analysis of Trumps Fortunes, Losses and Efforts to Recoup During his Presidency
Revisado: 09-28-20
Heard Dan Alexander explain Trump’s financial history on Fresh Air and was totally amazed at the detail and forthright analysis of Trump’s investments, bankruptcies and tendency to overspend in high risk ventured with extreme expensive tastes with often unattainable returns. Failure to divest going into the White House costs Trump in the long run with a number of property failures particularly golf courses and his DC hotel. He brings in his financial backers into his administration such as Wilbur Ross who misrepresents his income and does not divest his holdings although claiming he did do. The White House provides opportunities to recoup income on his properties such as the over a million dollars charged on his vacation properties to the secret service. Very complicated to track his financial backers and influencers. Well told and a fast listen. Great book.

Historia
The former Confederate states have continually mythologized the South's defeat to the North, depicting the Civil War as unnecessary, or as a fight over states' Constitutional rights, or as a David v. Goliath struggle in which the North waged "total war" over an underdog South. In The Myth of the Lost Cause, historian Edward Bonekemper deconstructs this multi-faceted myth, revealing the truth about the war that nearly tore the nation apart 150 years ago.

Excellent Challenge to a Pervading Myth
Revisado: 09-10-20
Was the war about States Rights or Slavery? Did the union win because of numerical superiority? Was Grant a butcher and Lee a careful tactician in contrast? As it all about overwhelming odds? Very thought provoking and not just well documents but the words and words of political leaders and facts and fighters are well presented. A lot of us grew up within slanted history. Well done!

Historia
By the 1890s, Wilmington was North Carolina’s largest city and a shining example of a mixed-race community. It was a bustling port city with a burgeoning African American middle class and a Fusionist government of Republicans and Populists that included black aldermen, police officers, and magistrates. There were successful black-owned businesses and an African American newspaper, The Record. But across the state - and the South - white supremacist Democrats were working to reverse the advances made by former slaves and their progeny.

Horrible Race History - Amazing Detail
Revisado: 07-12-20
Horrid event stirred by fabricated newspaper editorials from a major paper, The News and Observer edited by white supreme Josephus Daniels, making up that a black armed mob in Wilmington was organizing to take over the City and create violence. Hostility was fueled by successful black voting and economics stirring a klan style response. The red shirts were motivated to create a white coup against the Wilmington government and attack successful and random black citizens. No armed black citizens of course but bloodshed, executions and banishments by the drunken Red Shirts. Led by a former confederate, Waddell, who took over the mayorship. The book is articulate and tells so many details, telling the full story. Sad that many, like black newspaper editor Alex Manley never returned. Very sad that later in life, Daniels became secretary of the Navy.

Interesting essay , too short
Revisado: 09-12-19
The essay was very good and interesting but just too short. Like a very good joke with a missing punch line. Need a little more or answers to situational failures.

And in this bold 24-lecture series, you can do just that.

Excellent insights and reflections
Revisado: 07-18-18
Excellent lectures clarifying many myths in our history, some may be obvious but many are are not which is enlightening. An example is Woodrow Wilson who many today consider an enlightened president yet he supported the klan, instituted segregation in the Federal Erik force, was not an isolationist and was not initially for Women's right to vote. Great perspective that moved progressively today.

Amazing DetailOn How Societies Evolved
Revisado: 05-29-18
A combination of anthropology, artifacts and history is told on how different societies progressed differently based on location, isolation and interaction along with the richness or poorness of the land along with the ability to domesticate its animals. A minor example, those blessed with a horse had advantages with transpiration and military might whereas in Africa, the Zebra refused to be domesticated and featured a harsh and prolonged bite. The amount of details on all the various lands is astounding and as to how long each was settled. Very in depth explanation but you know the author has more to tell.
