Historia
Whether she’s playing an “age-defying” book editor on television or dazzling audiences on the Broadway stage, Sutton Foster manages to make it all look easy. How? Crafting. From the moment she picked up a cross stitch needle to escape the bullying chorus girls in her early performing days, she was hooked. Cross stitching led to crocheting, crocheting led to collages, which led to drawing, and so much more. Channeling her emotions into her creations centered Sutton as she navigated the significant moments in her life and gave her tangible reminders of her experiences.

You never know what someone is going through
Revisado: 05-09-24
I listen to this book because of the synopsis. Crafting through life intrigued me and was very different from any other celebrity memoir. I also just saw Sutton on Broadway and she slayed the role of Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd. It was a great listen! This book really shows you that you don’t know what celebrities are going through behind their famous curtain. I’ve always admired Sutton Foster. I wouldn’t call myself a diehard fan, but I would always love listening to her sing and knew of her star power on Broadway. Sutton was raw and very open in this book, in fact, I found it triggering in a lot of ways that I wasn’t expecting. The Sad parts of her life are quite sad. I definitely found myself rooting for her and admire her all the more for what she has come through in her life. You’re so used to hearing celebrities talking about how drugs and alcohol ruin their family life. But neither were involved here. In fact, what was involved is quite eye-opening And tragic for everyone concerned. I will mention the topics of concern at the end of this review. So if you do not want to know, stop reading now. But I do want to emphasize that some of the heartache and hardships that Sutton went through can be difficult to listen to for some. I needed to turn it off for a while to process and get my head in the right place as I was listening.
Sutton had a difficult relationship with her mom, and she also suffered through miscarriage. if either of these two topics are difficult for anyone you may want to skip ahead from time to time. You’ll know when.

It's 1999, and Eira Hart and Ru Tattersall are set up to co-host The Lonely Harts Club, a new late-night radio show to help New Yorkers find love. It's a last chance attempt for both Eira, expert in Celtic mythology and amateur Welsh matchmaker, and Ru, once-hot-shot Aussie DJ, to achieve their New York dreams. The thing is, you either click with a co-host, or you don’t. It’s a bit like falling in love. There’s co-host chemistry, or there isn’t. With the countdown to a new millennium, it feels like the world as they know it is about to end.

Fun, fast, clean, happy
Revisado: 04-18-24
First, I loved the narration. It read more like a script. The conversations flowed. It was easy to listen to. The content was very descriptive. I love when you can “picture” the scene in your imagination.
Second, the story was light, fun, and very relatable.
The book is set a couple of decades ago, but very relevant to today’s society.
I don’t need to blush while reading a book (that’s just me). This book did not make me blush.
Loved the quick banter and heartfelt conversation. It made me laugh and giggle.
The only negative for me was the repetitive narrative in a few spots. Made me feel like I had a report due and not enough content. So what do you do? double space and say the same thing three different ways. Thankfully, this only happened a couple of times so it didn’t derail the momentum.

Quite enjoyable!
Revisado: 03-04-24
I’m an adult listening to kids books because my daughter is pursuing a master’s degree in library science and needs opinions.
First, Bahni Turpin, the narrator, is phenomenal! I was so used to listening to autobiography’s narrated by the writer (usually monotone) that her work on this recording felt like a ray of sunshine! She seamlessly navigated the voices for the different characters so much so that, with the guidance of the talented writer, you could imagine their faces!
Speaking of the writing, incredible imagery and detail. I was easily able to follow along in my head and watch the “movie”. The storyline moves great at the beginning. It did slow up bit at the halfway point, but never got boring! I love the premise, it’s fun! As an adult reader, I had to question a couple of incidents. I have not read the first 2 books in the series, but the “mystery” was more “teen “ than I was expecting, then again, I have been out of the kids books loop for quite awhile. The overall story was definitely a young reader status. I enjoyed it.

It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Fascinating life
Revisado: 03-01-24
Although I have followed the British Royal Family since Diana, Princess of Wales was introduced to the world, I have only read one other publication on their lives. I was hesitant to listen to Prince Harry’s book because I was afraid the “fairytale” I had dreamt of would be dismissed. Now that I have listened to the book, my fear was realized, but in a good way. I thought Harry did a great job with his storytelling for most parts of the book. It felt as though I was watching a movie because I remember just about every major story as it played out in the newspapers. I was able to see the photos in my mind as he was speaking his words. I will not take sides or question any of Harry and Megan‘s actions that were taken. I do feel a strong sense of sadness overall. Mainly, I feel that sadness from William and Harry’s broken relationship. I honestly think that William is in just as much pain as he is. But right now, William is not allowed to express that pain. It’s very sad how being human is second to being royal. With Charles having been so much older than Diana, there is a huge generational gap between Charles and his sons. The institution is broken. Charles is blind to it, William cannot do anything about it, & Harry exposed it. To anyone outside of a royal family, It’s hard to understand how family doesn’t come first. hope that someday soon, before too much time passes by and you can’t get back those years, somebody will open their mouth, just like they do in the Hallmark movies, to speak up for what is right, make changes, swallow their pride, and talk to one another. How can Charles be the King of a country when he can’t even keep his family together?
I do applaud Harry’s openness. If you do not care about the royal family, this book is not for you. Otherwise, read it. It gives a great glimpse into their lives, for better or worse. It definitely gives you a better understanding of the extreme protocols-it’s not just for show! It actually brought a human side to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth although not as human as I’d hoped. I only hope that William will figure out that he needs his brother in his life especially when he becomes king. It will be quite lonely for him at the top.

Historia
Behind the curtain of her happy on-screen persona, Valerie Bertinelli’s life has been no easy ride, especially when it comes to her own self-image and self-worth. She waged a war against herself for years, learning to equate her value to her appearance as a child star on One Day at a Time and punishing herself in order to fit into the unachievable Hollywood mold. She struggled to make her marriage to Eddie Van Halen—the true love of her life—work, despite all the rifts the rock-star lifestyle created between them.

Revisado: 01-23-22
Valerie Bertinelli. I wanted to be her when I was 12. I grew up with her and followed her career, life, and struggles via the media.
This book did not disappoint on so many levels.
I loved her reading of the book. So easy to listen to. It did not sound like the reading of a “book”. It did sound like she was sitting next me, with a cup of coffee in hand, and filling me in on what her life has been like for the past few years.
She was brutally honest, which was very much appreciated. She answered so many questions that I was wondering about, and I’m sure so many others are wondering. I’ll say this, it could get a bit confusing on the chronological aspect of the storytelling, but honestly, it really didn’t matter -it did not affect the overall story. I found myself saying “Me too!” , on so many occasions. It hit “home” for me especially because I’m not far behind her in age. Talk about a wake up call!! It’s overall theme was quite realistic at this stage of my life. It’s not all wine and roses. There are some hard lessons to come to terms with and deal with. Her experience with these lessons have opened my eyes and will hopefully change the way I see and do things, what I choose to make time for (and not), and in the end, what matters. Love. Thank you to Valerie for sharing. Aside from her marrying a rock God and owning a beach house, we have a lot in common! 😊

Learn about the Seven Archangels with iMinds insightful audio knowledge series. The history of Angels rests predominantly in the Middle East. Other cultures had gods, goddesses or faeries, but in the Middle East they worshiped angels as their gods. Once the idea of a single all powerful God evolved, however, it was necessary to create another space for angels. And so, they became known as mediators between the newly created all powerful God and his servants - humankind- on Earth.

Embrace your inner Clutterbug!!🐝
Revisado: 09-24-20
I loved this book! Going forward, this book will be my go to reference guide. So many light bulbs went off during the reading! Cas did more for my self-esteem than any other organizing person has over the many years I have been trying to get the clutter under control. In 5 hours, she nailed what I had been doing, explained why and how I need to embrace my clutterbug personality and work with it rather than fight it and try to be something I’m not. Very entertaining, never condescending and always supportive!!! I have read books and books, magazines galore, watched tv shows for hours, and have been “planning” my declutter strategy for 10 years. This book is different. I’m telling you. It’s worth the 5 hours of your time and your money! Cas, I’m a believer and a BEE 🐝

Americans are drowning in paper. We keep stacks of it on the kitchen counter, stash it in drawers, and store file cabinets full of documents that we never even look at. Studies show that fully 85 percent of the paper in our lives can be tossed - but which 85 percent? And how do we organize and manage the 15 percent that remains? With The Paper Solution, founder of Organize365 Lisa Woodruff delivers a proven, step-by-step guide for what to shred, what to save, and how to sort what's left behind.

Worth it! Simple but Structured.
Revisado: 08-31-20
This book is definitely worth the listen if you are looking for a system to control the paper coming into your home, and who isn’t? It’s repetitive at times but, the system sounds simple, For those of us that need confirmation of what our common sense is telling us, this book does just that in step by step instructions and it doesn’t not have to break the bank. You probably have all the basic products used in your home already! It would be wonderful if we can tackle it as we get it, but,at least for me, that is not real life. I plan on implementing Lisa’s system because it sounds manageable. Lisa explains her reasons and backs it up with client examples perfectly so much so that I saw myself in every one. One more thing...I’m in the 50+ generation. It can be extremely hard and disconcerting to break from the habits you were taught from your parents on how to “adult”. Lisa gently explains why those habits are somewhat obsolete and can be detrimental to some extent in this day and age.
Even if you do not completely convert to Lisa’s system, her book has enough content for you to take the information given and make improvements to your system of household bookkeeping. I recommend the listen!
The four stars rating (not 5) is because of the repetitive nature and you have to take plenty of notes if you don’t have the physical book to refer to. I loved it!

Plenty of good information!Enough to recommend it!
Revisado: 04-20-20
I am a former personal trainer that is in need to get back on the right track after years of health issues. Although this book did not offer a "magic anecdote" or earth-shattering revelations on how to lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle, it did offer different perspectives, plenty of suggestions, and insight into the lifestyle of three different women who each have valuable information to offer to others. Did you ever see a friend who looks really good and ask them, 'You look fabulous! What have you been doing? What's your secret?' " ? They tell you. You realize you know what to do, you just have to figure out how to do it within your life's guidelines! Well, this is how "Find your Path" reads. The reader asks Carrie 'How do you do it?' and Carrie tells us exactly what she does. Let's face it, we all know what we have to do to "get healthy". Carrie is not reinventing the wheel, she is just putting her spin on it. Hopefully, her spin will resonate with you and give you new ideas to try that will help you overcome an obstacle. Maybe you have one obstacle or 20. This is where the book helped me. It gave me new ideas for snacks and shortcuts to quick meals, name brands of packaged foods to try (there are so many out there, I was happy to get recommendations), and nutrition advice from a nutritionist that is up to date with current trends. "Listening" to the exercise instruction was not easy to understand even with my prior knowledge. If you are new to exercise, you definitely need to follow along with the enhancement. Bottom line: this book is full of usable tidbits that anyone can use. I can't live Carrie's "lifestyle" , but I can certainly take one or two of her ideas and use them. After all, she offered! I would recommend the listen!

Marie covers everything! Every excuse, every question, every room, cabinet, and shelf of your home is discussed. She answers every question you have ever had when decluttering your home. The best part is that she does it without scolding and without telling you what you need or don't need. She gives you the tools. You and only you can determine what sparks joy in your home. The ultimate goal is not to have a picture perfect home, but to have a home that brings you joy. Highly recommend.
