Hard to follow due to intrusive background music
Revisado: 12-19-23
I gave up trying to listen. The storyline is interesting but due to the constant background music, which has nothing to do with the storyline and is at the same sound level as the narrator, I had to strain to follow the words. Not worth the effort. Shame because I have always enjoyed reading Emma Lathan.

Honorverse Today is a fan podcast providing review, commentary, and opinion for the Honor Harrington and Honorverse book series written by David Weber and published by Baen Books. The Honor Harrington series is one of the largest and most successful science fiction series in history. Yet it has never had a podcast. Until now. The series chronicles the life and world of Honor Harrington from her humble beginnings through the changing of the galactic order. The series includes 14 main series books, 2 spinoff series, several anthologies, 2 prequels, a comic series (which we will not be covering ...

Great discussion of the Honorverse
Revisado: 09-28-23
Really enjoying these in-depth discussions of a terrific series. A lot of points come up that I missed on the first read, so I'm glad to go through the series again. I like hearing from Raul, Jim and JB, they each bring different backgrounds to the discussion. Only thing I think is missing is a woman's point of view, since the protagonist of the series is a woman and unusually, in my experience with military fiction, there's good gender equity. Side note, in the Intro they mentioned their Babylon 5 podcast, so now I'm listening to that also. Very thoughtful discussions on what is one of my all time favorite TV series. Thank guys for all the effort you've put into this podcast.

Historia
With little to live on but her romantic daydreams - which frequently starred the dashing Marquess of Fleetwater - Jean Lindsay lived a rather dismal life with her nasty, drunken uncle. Jean was always the object of ridicule, that is, until news of her unexpected inheritance spread. Suddenly her worn dresses became "quaint" and her forthright manner turned magically to "charming", but to Jean's horror, someone wanted her dead!

Georgett Heyer Rip-off

So glad I didn't spend actual money on this. Read Arabella by Georgette Heyer instead.

Poor narrator
Revisado: 07-12-21
Wish I had read the book instead of wasting a credit on this narrator. Her verbal pacing us poor and accents not credible.

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. But Mark isn't ready to give up yet.

Book is fun but not a great narration
Revisado: 06-13-21
I have loved this book since it came out. But why on earth did Audible re-record it with a new narrator? Will Wheaton does a good job as Mark, but he makes no attempt to differentiate all the other characters. The original audio book with RC Bray was superb and he won an Audie award for it. The only reason, in my mind, to get this version is the extras they put in at the end. You get about 15 minutes of new, fun, back story.

A second great St. Mary's book
Revisado: 11-13-17
A while ago, I listened to Just One Damned Thing After Another. I got it on a free promotion, and it sounded fun, but I wasn't expecting too much. Was I surprised! I loved the mixture of history, snarky British humor, slight romance and a great reader. But could Jodi Taylor keep it up? So I hesitated a while before expending another credit on this Book 2 in the series. Answer? She definitely keeps it up. I can't wait to move on to Book 3.
