Too mutch noise
- De Lucas Almeida Oliveira en 12-10-21
Sounds effects overwhelm narration at times
Revisado: 12-05-24
Sometimes I can't hear the narration because the sounds are so loud. of course, changing the volume doesn't help it just makes the noises louder, still covering the narration. this happens during the most intense moments too, when you want to hear the narration the most. the story is great, whatever other criticisms people have, I find it enjoyable. I just find it surprising that the editors for this production didn't notice how much the noise covers up the narration. How did they overlook that? Honestly I prefer the regular audiobook over this graphic audio production for that reason.

Audible are delighted to present Sleeping Beauty, a unique listening experience for all the family to enjoy over the Christmas season. This exclusive new audio drama has been created in collaboration with the London Symphony Orchestra and is inspired by Tchaikovsky's beloved ballet music. Marty Ross’s reimagining of the famous fairy story draws on the worlds of folktale and the Brothers Grimm, while the LSO's specially-commissioned new recording, conducted by Gavin Sutherland, weaves through the drama like a rich and majestic film score.

Good performance, strange story changes
Revisado: 03-01-22
Granted that the original story as it was recorded a thousand years ago wasn't exactly the Disney version, this version starting with a king kidnapping the girl Aurora and raising her as his own because he "takes what is his" instead of having the girl born to him from his wife the queen was odd. then making the biological mom turn evil and turn into an evil witch with a desire to kill her daughter with the explanation that if she can't have her daughter, no one can... another strange twist that just doesn't resonate with me.

Fanfare music in "bedtime" stories?
Revisado: 05-06-21
The narrator himself is okay, but the recording sounds like it was taking from an old vinyl record, complete with housing and cracking sounds. I started playing the first story for the kids at bed time only to have them startled alert within the first few minutes with fanfare music. From then on we played the stories in the mornings on the way to school. Whatever possessed the producers to do that is beyond me. They should have called this "Waking Up Stories".

Historia
The Mabinogion, the earliest literary jewel of Wales, is a collection of ancient tales and legends compiled around the 12th and 13th century deriving from storytelling and the songs of bards handed down over the ages. It is a remarkable document in many ways. From an historical perspective, it is the earliest prose literature of Britain. But it is in its drama that many surprises await, not least the central role of King Arthur, his wife, Gwenhwyvar, and his court at Caerlleon upon Usk.

Historia
Music is an integral part of humanity. Every culture has music, from the largest society to the smallest tribe. Its marvelous range of melodies, themes, and rhythms taps in to something universal. Babies are soothed by it. Young adults dance for hours to it. Older adults can relive their youth with the vivid memories it evokes. Music is part of our most important rituals, and it has been the medium of some of our greatest works of art.

Very interesting, and well presented
Revisado: 12-10-18
This is a very informative and interesting course on music and the brain. it has a couple confusing parts where the presenter was using visual aids, which are obviously not available here in audio format. other than that, this would be a five star presentation.

Historia
This is a story from the Fall of the House of Usher collection. The horrors of the Spanish Inquisition, with its dungeon of death, and the overhanging gloom on the House of Usher demonstrate unforgettably the unique imagination of Edgar Allan Poe. Unerringly, he touches upon some of our greatest nightmares: Premature burial, ghostly transformation, words from beyond the grave. Written in the 1840s, they have retained their power to shock and frighten even now.
