Historia
Once described by The Washington Post as "the most interesting mayor you've never heard of", Pete Buttigieg, the 36-year-old Democratic mayor of South Bend, Indiana, has improbably emerged as one of the nation's most visionary politicians. First elected in 2011, Buttigieg left a successful business career to move back to his hometown, previously tagged by Newsweek as a "dying city", and transformed it into a shining model of urban reinvention.

Could have been better
Revisado: 08-06-18
This book was good up to a point, but the story just went on and on. If it were shorter, it would have been better. I usually like long books because if they are really good, I don't want them to end. This one drug on.

I really liked this book. The narration was a little stilted but didn't detract from the story. Definitely worth listening to.

Historia
The Call of the Wild by Jack London was perhaps his best selling book. Buck the dog, a St. Bernard Shepherd mix was living a comfortable life in the Santa Clara Valley of California until the demand for dogs of his type in the Klondike encourages the caretaker to steal him and sell him into a life of misery in the far North. his physical strength, and his strength of character allow him to survive the brutal treatment he receives at the hand of man. The longer he is in the North, the closer he comes to his brother Wolf until the call of the wild transforms him into a wild animal, a Wolf.

I could not get into this book as the narration was horrendous. I usually try to give narrators a chance but I just couldn't on this one.

Historia
Elsie Bovary is a cow, and a pretty happy one at that—her long, lazy days are spent eating, napping, and chatting with her best friend, Mallory. One night, Elsie and Mallory sneak out of their pasture; but while Mallory is interested in flirting with the neighboring bulls, Elsie finds herself drawn to the farmhouse. Through the window, she sees the farmer's family gathered around a bright Box God—and what the Box God reveals about something called an "industrial meat farm" shakes Elsie's understanding of her world to its core.

Historia
The Waverleys have always been a curious family, endowed with peculiar gifts that make them outsiders even in their hometown of Bascom, North Carolina. Even their garden has a reputation, famous for its feisty apple tree that bears prophetic fruit, and its edible flowers, imbued with special powers.
Generations of Waverleys tended this garden. Their history was in the soil. But so were their futures.
Together again in the house they grew up in, the Waverley sisters realize they must deal with their common legacy - if they are ever to feel at home in Bascom - or with each other.

Revisado: 04-10-12
I loved this book! It was so delightful even though somewhat predictable. I could get lost in the garden or in just listening to the descriptions of the food and flowers. The characters are so endearing and I love that apple tree! I will definitely listen to this one again.

Historia
While many denominations claim to be growing, the largest group in American religious life is the disillusioned - people who have been involved in the church yet see few similarities between the church's life and the person of Jesus. In the midst of elaborate programming, professional worship teams, and political crusades, they ask, "Is this really what Jesus called us to do?" While the church has dismissed these people as uncommitted and lacking in faith, perhaps the opposite is true. Their commitment to authentic spirituality over institutional idolatry might be the very corrective the church needs.
