Historia
When your father is a literal monster, the last place you want to go is home. Unfortunately, I wasn't given much of a choice. Following a five-year exile, I'm back in my childhood bedroom. Only, this time, there are silver bars on all the windows and vault locks on the doors. In lieu of a homecoming party, my father is hosting a barbaric tournament to determine who will win my hand in marriage.

Just meh.
Revisado: 02-22-24
I have read/listened to a lot of Danielle Garrett’s books, and many other vampire series. This one just wasn’t it for me. Despite encountering this Lacy in previous books, I just didn’t care about her or her story. Also these vampires seem to be vampires in name only. There is no real “vampire” action. The whole book felt flat.

Just ok
Revisado: 05-11-23
I haven’t read many Nora Roberts books so I don’t know how well this compares to her others. But I have read a lot of fantasy books and this one felt pretty flat. The characters, the plot, the romance… all flat and underdeveloped. I finished the book, but I wasn’t very invested in it and my mind often wandered. I don’t plan on listening to the others in the series.
The narration is ok. Not great m, but not the worst I’ve heard. As others have said, her denial voices are good but her mail voices all sound the same but with slightly different accent lilts.
Is it a horrible read? No. Will I be recommending it to all of my friends to read immediately? Also no.

Historia
Here are the thrills, grandeur, and unabashed fun of the Greek myths, stylishly retold by Stephen Fry. The legendary writer, actor, and comedian breathes life into ancient tales, from Pandora's box to Prometheus's fire, and transforms the adventures of Zeus and the Olympians into emotionally resonant and deeply funny stories, without losing any of their original wonder. Learned notes from the author offer rich cultural context. This volume is a doorway into a captivating world.

Mythical masterpiece
Revisado: 02-21-21
The incomparable Stephen Fry is a delight as usual. He is a fantastic writer and narrator. He brings so much life to these characters and their stories. It’s a wonderful mix of lively storytelling with historical details peppered in for more context. I would recommend this to anyone, except maybe parents with young children listening as there is a fair bit of sex and violence in some of these myths. He handles them tastefully, but it still might not be appropriate for certain ages.

Engaging and creative story
Revisado: 02-15-19
I didn’t know what to expect from this story, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was different from any other story I’ve heard. It kept me guessing the whole time. It’s well written and performed well. It’s worth a listen.

Entertaining, but a few glitches
Revisado: 07-14-17
What about Jeff Woodman’s performance did you like?
I think Jeff Woodman does a great job with all of the character accents. You forget after a while that there is in fact only one person speaking. My one criticism, however, is that there were four separate glitches in the reading of the stories. Three phrases were repeated and there was one short section that must have been recorded at a later date because the sound quality was noticeable different. They didn't impact the overall story, but they were noticeable enough that I felt I should comment.
Any additional comments?
Overall the stories are good. Not as compelling as some of the other Lord John novellas, but still entertaining.
