Historia
Fourteen-year-old Charlie Matters is up to no good, but for a very good reason. Without parents, peerage, or merit, ducking school but barred from actual work, he steals what he needs, living day-to-day until he’s old enough to enlist to fight the Germans. After barely surviving the Blitz, Charlie knows there’s no telling when a falling bomb might end his life.

Not the David Baldacci I know and love.

I found it hard to hold my interest. It was a weak storyline. Go back to the Camel Club and other dark secret investigations. I’m sorry but I cannot endorse this book. Others apparently enjoyed it but don’t be fooled. It is not the 6 Minute Man. :(

Historia
Mickey Gibson, single mother and former detective, leads a hectic life similar to that of many moms: juggling the demands of her two small children with the tasks of her job working remotely for ProEye, a global investigation company that hunts down wealthy tax and credit cheats. When Mickey gets a call from a colleague named Arlene Robinson, she thinks nothing of Arlene’s unusual request for her to go inventory the vacant home of an arms dealer who cheated ProEye’s clients and fled.

Not David’s best works.

I kept listening until the end. The story line was predictable and seemed to drag on with details that did not add much, if any value to the book. Some of the voices used sounded more pretend than real. There’s a big difference in talking like you’re scared and being scared. There’s a big difference between pretending to talk like an elderly person and sounding like an elderly person. Sorry, but that’s my two cents.

Amateur writing.
Revisado: 09-08-21
Patterson needs to review his co-writer’s writing. The plot was unrealistic. I guessed the suspect 10 minutes into the storyline. If Patterson is going to use co-writers, he needs to at least review what they write. It was a waste of time.

Historia
The death of Mark Twain's daughter, Jean Clemens, occurred early in the morning of December 24, 1909. A few hours later Twain was writing steadily. "I am setting it down," he said, "everything. It is a relief to me to write it. It furnishes me an excuse for thinking."

Twain could have done better.

Heartless and emotionless essay of the loss of a child. I did not develop empathy in this story.
