This book gave a bit more attention to the growth experienced by the male lead. I liked seeing that.

Who doesn’t love a great romance involving a legendary rock god? Yowza!
Kristen Ashley always
writes an emotionally satisfying, compelling and layered story every time she puts pen to paper. Upon finishing one book I’m immediately on to the next. And so it goes.

Long may she continue weaving these fun and delicious literary treats!

I don’t get why David E. Kelly rewrote Madelyn’s part so much. She is hilarious as written. She is warm and compassionate as written. Loved this book so much more than the HBO series.

I generally love Kristen Ashley’s books. I’m especially fond of the Colorado Mountain series. And while this book touched upon the charming towns and people I first met there, it merely touched. It was also waaay long on hot steamy sex (that seeming to be the end all be all of developing Ann enduring love. Additionally, it was much too short on quirky characters, vivid descriptions of the town, the people, and the color and depth of the series I so enjoyed. And, as mentioned the occasional manic narration was irritating.

Scott Harvath totally irritated me

I decided to read Brad Thor’s books in order. By the time I got to state of the union I was totally irritated. What is it with these operatives that they fall for bossy feminists who think they know how to deal with a black ops situation better than the former Navy seal turned Secret Service agent turned homeland security whatever the hell he is now. And why does Scott Harvath come across as thinking he knows everything about his mentor when in reality he knows next to nothing about his mentor. Why in briefings in the situation room is he so arrogantly cocksure and unwilling to process what he is learning about his mentor before making boneheaded statements to the intelligence leaders at the table. Books 2 & 3 drove me insane. He started out as a reasonably professional guy with good instincts until he hooked up with the travel agent chic who improbably becomes an overnight commando and stupidly starts having ridiculous opinions and taking matters into her own hands. I just hate a guy who is led around by his Johnson. If Harvath doesn’t get it together soon, I will bail on the rest of Thor’s books.

Four Friends Audiolibro Por Robyn Carr arte de portada

Was I meant to like the character Andi? Cause I did not like her at all.

I actively disliked the character Andi? In her first conversation with her husband Phil about his infidelity, he told her that repeatedly he had tried to talk with her about what he wanted from her that she refused to see; why he thought he had the affair. She WOULD NOT HEAR HIM, and continued to nurse her grievance for weeks and weeks after that conversation. She is one of the most self absorbed, nobody’s career is more important than mine character’s I’ve read about recently.

I always love Andi and Sebastian. Sebastian has a GREAT voice, but more than that he plays men the way men were before feminists jumped in and mucked up the formula. Andi has that every woman, girl next door thing going on ... and a flawless, sexy, and smart voice she brings. Little wonder these two are I. Such demand.

This was my first PG-rated Blakey book and I totally loved it. I’ve grown so weary of the X-rated books ... primarily because as interesting, amusing, smart, sexy and smart the leads are ... they just don’t ring true. These did!

I’ve never read a book before where the story dragged interminably because of the mind numbing, tediously long ruminations of the central character pondering and justifying the minutia of her feelings with respect to every tiny thing whoever she’s conversing with says before resuming dialogue. And I’m only on chapter 6.

Had more difficulty getting into this novel, and then I realized why. The man narrating made Zoey sound like Harvey Fierstein. Disconcerting, to say the least.

I just wish female narrators would narrate all voices in their normal vocal range. I don’t know why, but when females narrate male voices in a deeper range, the men always sound moronic ... like Bill and Ted of the excellent adventure. They don’t sound sexy or manly, which I rather think they are meant to be.

Not up to Linda Howard’s usual standards. Maybe it was an early book. Wanted to strangle the narrator is whose voicing of the heroine was grating, obnoxious, and cloying.
