Historia
The hero of John Kennedy Toole's incomparable, Pultizer Prize–winning comic classic is one Ignatius J. Reilly, an obese, self-absorbed, hapless Don Quixote of the French Quarter, whose half-hearted attempts at employment lead to a series of wacky adventures among the lower denizens of New Orleans.

Decent story with odd narration
Revisado: 01-20-12
Would you listen to A Confederacy of Dunces again? Why?
No. It was a better book to read than listen to. Narration of different voices really threw me off.
What was one of the most memorable moments of A Confederacy of Dunces?
There was a very memorable moment involving a stripper, a bird, and an earring.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Barrett Whitener?
No on in particular. My main complaint about the narration was the huge decibel spike every time a character said
If you could rename A Confederacy of Dunces, what would you call it?
Better leave that one to the author.
Any additional comments?
While i enjoyed the book I just could not get over the narration. Every time the reader got to certain voices it made me wonder why they chose to read it this way. Anyone who has listened would understand the odd voices, I believe.

Historia
Oslo in November. The first snow of the season has fallen. A boy named Jonas wakes in the night to find his mother gone. Out his window, in the cold moonlight, he sees the snowman that inexplicably appeared in the yard earlier in the day. Around its neck is his mother’s pink scarf. Hole suspects a link between a menacing letter he’s received and the disappearance of Jonas’s mother - and of perhaps a dozen other women, all of whom went missing on the day of a first snowfall. As his investigation deepens, something else emerges: he is becoming a pawn....

Thoroughly enjoyed this listen
Revisado: 10-26-11
Would you listen to The Snowman again? Why?
Most likely not as it was a murder mystery that would just lose the same grip during another read.
What did you like best about this story?
My favorite aspect of this story was the setup that took place years prior to the events of the main story. It really set the mood for the plot.
What about Robin Sachs’s performance did you like?
I appreciated the fact that Robin did not attempt to strain voices of the opposite sex. Many times the narrator goes a little overboard attempting to perform these voices.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No extreme reactions, but it was gripping and impossible to press the stop button.

Great narration of a good story
Revisado: 10-26-11
I must admit that I chose this book based more on Bronson Pinchot than the actual story. After listening to it I still feel the same. It was a decent overall story appealing to anyone nearing their midlife crisis, but was not followed through in the details. There was a lot of explanations regarding scenery, etc. that failed to paint the whole picture. I have also grown tired of seemingly every book I seem to listen to spending too much time on sexual storylines that I feel add very little to the story. All in all I did not regret this listen, but it may have simply received higher marks due to the narrator.

Historia
James A. Garfield may have been the most extraordinary man ever elected president. Born into abject poverty, he rose to become a wunderkind scholar, a Civil War hero, and a renowned and admired reformist congressman. Nominated for president against his will, he engaged in a fierce battle with the corrupt political establishment. But four months after his inauguration, a deranged office seeker tracked Garfield down and shot him in the back. But the shot didn’t kill Garfield. The drama of what happened subsequently is a powerful story of a nation in turmoil.

Great story and writing, but mixed narration.
Revisado: 10-21-11
I found the material extremely interesting and well written. Gave just enough background information on the characters to set up the conflict. My only gripe would be about the narrator's accents, which were sometimes a little distracting.

Great book outside of the graphic rape scenes
Revisado: 08-14-10
While I truly enjoyed both the majority of writing (and narration) there are a couple of graphic rape scenes that seem to be unnecessarily included, and overly detailed. It actually made me slightly sick. The worst part is that outside of these few minutes the mystery, action, and writing style are superb. Without those graphic scenes it would have been 4 or 5 stars.
