Historia
Langston Hughes was only twenty-four when he published his debut collection of poetry, The Weary Blues. The poems included here blend vernacular speech and musical rhythms to offer a bracing perspective on the African American experience. Traversing a wide range of settings—including the jazz clubs of Harlem, expansive natural landscapes, and seaside taverns—Hughes’s voice as a poet ties these various places together.

Phenomenal In Every Way

This is perfection personified. I loved every second of this collection, and the narration amplified this experience in the best way.

Deborah Harkness’s sparkling debut, A Discovery of Witches, has brought her into the spotlight and galvanized fans around the world. In this tale of passion and obsession, Diana Bishop, a young scholar and a descendant of witches, discovers a long-lost and enchanted alchemical manuscript, Ashmole 782, deep in Oxford's Bodleian Library. Its reappearance summons a fantastical underworld, which she navigates with her leading man, vampire geneticist Matthew Clairmont.

No thanks
Revisado: 08-06-22
greatly disliked the book but the narrator was cool. The way in which the author spoke of Blackness & of Africa, was so distracting & ruined my reading experience. She ostensibly vilified an entire continent & only described the physical features of race of anyone that wasn’t white. Her description of non white characters happed less than 5 times which says enough about how white-centered this book is. Not sure when this book was written but reading it in 2022 made it glaringly obvious how antiquated her viewpoints must be.
