Historia
The last time New Orleans attorney Jean-Luc Valmont saw Maribel Cordoba, a Spanish nobleman's daughter, she was an 11-year-old orphan perched in the riggings of his privateering vessel proving herself as the best lookout on his crew. Until the day his infamy caught up with them all, and innocent lives were lost. Unsure why he survived, but vowing to make something of the chance he was given, Jean-Luc has buried his past life so deep that no living person will ever find it - until a very much alive and very grown-up Maribel Cordoba arrives on his doorstep.

Love this story.

The narrator does a great job bringing this story to life.
I have read several Jennings books and this series is by far my favorite. The series has a nice balance of being light hearted and yet the Christian message is thought provoking. It is sprinkled with humor to keep you smiling/laughing as you listen and characters that are relatable that you can’t help but to cheer on.
I read/listen to a lot of stories and the Fort Reno series are some of my all time favorite.

I love this story. I’ve listened to it twice in the last two years. I can think of less than a handful of books that I’ve read or listened to twice and I read or listen to around 4 or 5 a month. The romance part of the story is like a delicious dish on the back burner that slowly simmers and is one of the best parts of the meal.
The best part was the Christian elements.
