It's pretty good.

This production of Into the Void is pretty good. There are a few production errors/decisions that can be someone distracting. The most jarring of these comes early in the story. The characters pass through a silent desert and have some minor adventures. The single most important and distinguishing characteristic of this desert is that it cancels out all sound. This section of the production was full of music and sound effects. That being said there are many positives that made this an overall great listen. The characters were very interesting and fleshed out properly. The writing was adequate overall, but in some hard to pinpoint reason it felt like a first novel. January LaVoy's narration was the best part. She's very good at her craft. Check this one out. It doesn't really feel connected in any real way to the overall Star Wars franchise. In a way it's the story's strength. It leads directly into the Dawn of the Jedi comics which I recommend reading afterward as well.

I don't know any German. However, I'm very familiar with this book, and I enjoy great performances in any language. My familiarity with the book comes from multiple readings (including once in French when I was trying to learn French), listening to both the unabridged and abridged audiobooks multiple times, and seeing the film countless times. I also enjoy German music (i.e. Rammstein, Zentrifugal) and German film (i.e. Run Lola Run). I find listening to other languages fascinating. This would be a great learning tool for anyone trying to learn German who is also familiar with the story.

What did I like best? I love the cover art, and that he is the only narrator in any language who pronounced Palpatine correctly.

What did I like least? Unlike the English language versions, this version did not include any music or sound effects. This would have been the icing on the cake for this version.

I can't wait to listen to the German language versions of Episodes II and beyond, which are all (or mostly) also narrated by Philipp Moog.

Better Than Everyone Says It Is

Aftermath has been universally panned. However, the story is good. Also, the characters are good. It just wasn't written very well. It was a very bad idea to write a Star Wars story is present tense.

Marc Thompson's performance was amazing. The production was great. He truly knows how to bring characters to life more than any other audiobook narrator I've ever heard.

I recommend this book only to dedicated Star Wars fans with patience. It takes about an hour or so to get over the poor writing and just enjoy the great performance and good story. It is worth it. I can't wait until the sequel (and Episode VII too, of course).

This production reversed my long standing negative opinion of business books. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to improve their career. It presents logical steps to reevaluate what you believe about your profession.
