Good primer to the state of the Right

Overall I felt like the author/reader did a good job. I do think that his honest look into the alt-right is something more people need to hear. I also think think he deals with the various factions and their history in an honest and historically-accurate way. The book ends at a pivotal time, and I could see this book needing updated in just a few years as the right is moving so quickly.

Michael Malice narrates the book himself, and, unlike The White Pill, the performance is really great here.

Rich Dad Poor Dad offers some helpful advice for managing money. It also offers advice that flies in the face of what most financial advisers would tell you -- who's right? I'll leave that for the reader to decide for themselves. I will note that the vast majority of the actionable advice in this book is available elsewhere more succinctly. What sets the book apart is the frequent stories (which seem partly self-adulating). The stories were actually the parts of the book that I found least helpful or entertaining.

I think this book is probably going to be most appreciated by someone who has some basic knowledge of personal finance, and wants to hear some alternative strategies (and perspectives) about building income.

This book, read by the author, is an enthralling history and indictment of Communism in the Soviet Union, how good triumphed over evil, and why there is every reason for fight for the good today.

Dr. Bird knocks it out of the park!

I've read several systematic theologies, and this is my favorite. The author author presents all the major views on each issue and is open about any biases he has. The result is a very informative, broad, primer to systematic theology that is, as far as I know, unrivaled.

While Dr. Bird covers most of the major topics, he does so in a way that is very approachable. A Christian who is serious about their faith will find the content easy to grasp. On the other hand, I think this would be an excellent text for a master's level introduction to systematic theology course. Dr. Bird manages this balance of approachability and depth in a way that few others do.

Whether you're Reformed, Pentecostal, Anglican, or Baptist, I think you will likely enjoy these informative and engaging lectures. The breadth of appeal is a testament to the great work Dr. Bird has done here.

The book was well-written and well-read. Calvinism is a prerequisite for the book's theses. Since I'm not a Calvinist, I found the book less compelling, and less helpful. If you are a Calvinist, then I am confident that this book will greatly encourage you and bring you to a state of gratitude and assurance. If you, like myself, are not a Calvinist, you will glean a bit from the book -- but just a bit.

Woods is a well-educated PhD historian who has done a lot of work on social issues and economics as well. Woods has been a towering figure in Mises wing libertarianism.

Sadly, this book focuses very heavily on the civil war and seems to minimize slavery and instead focus on the “positive qualities” of the confederacy.

This is the first book of N. T. Wright’s that I interacted with. Fast forward ~7 years and I’ve become quite a fan of his work (sans some of his older comments on the new perspective on Paul). Wright is clearly one of the foremost Protestant theologians of our day, and has obviously done massive amounts of research to come to his exegesis.

This book really underscores, in simple terms, some of the central points of Wright’s theology. Well worth the listen even if you disagree with NPP or haven’t interacted with Wright before.

For the average American evangelical Christian, Martin Luther is not nearly as well known as he ought to be considering how heavily his doctrine (or revelation) influences the faith of most Protestants, Lutheran or not. The author reads the book, which I tend to really enjoy. The author clearly wants to present Luther in a positive light, but also takes pains to underscore what he perceives as shortcomings. Overall, I thought it was a great book. I’d love to hear a similar book about Cranmer and, perhaps, Zwingli.

This book is very interesting and easy to listen to. The author brings up some points that are well within Christian orthodoxy. The central theme of the book, though, really seems to diverge from the historic understanding of scripture and relies on fringe figures from church history. While I found the book well worth the listen, I also was unconvinced by its central proposal… at least, not entirely convinced.

After visiting a local Anglican (ACNA) congregation and being amazed for find it to be charismatic, I wanted to learn more about combining that charismatic and sacramental expressions of Christianity. This book does that in a great way. Engaging, informative, it gives words to what my heart wanted to say but didn’t quite have adequate words for.
