Historia
Florence "Florida" Baum is not the hapless innocent she claims to be when she arrives at the Arizona women's prison—or so her ex-cellmate, Diosmary Sandoval, keeps insinuating. Dios knows the truth about Florida's crimes, understands the truth that Florence hides even from herself: that she wasn't a victim of circumstance, an unlucky bystander misled by a bad man. Dios knows that darkness lives in women too, despite the world's refusal to see it. And she is determined to open Florida's eyes and unleash her true self.

Narrators voice was intolerable.
Revisado: 07-19-24
Gave up after first bit. Just couldn't listen to the narrator faking a "tough" female voice any longer

Puts me to sleep!!
Revisado: 04-01-23
Honestly, I'm agog at the negative comments about the narration. Yes, it's monotone, uninspiring. Thus, it puts me to sleep. I've listened several nights in a row now and have yet to hear more than 5 minutes of the story because ZONK! out I go. It WORKS!

Revisado: 03-22-23
Joanne Froggartt makes any book worth listening to. This was a great story, kept me guessing to the end, and Joanne Froggartt just is such a fabulous narrator....

Historia
Elle is a survivor. She’s managed to piece together a solid life from a childhood of broken memories and fairy tales her mom told her to explain away bad dreams. But weekly visits to her mother still fill Elle with a paralyzing fear she can’t explain. It’s just another of so many unanswered questions she grew up with in a family estranged by silence and secrets.

Justine Eyre dropped review by 2 stars
Revisado: 08-05-21
Justine Eyre's annoying, overdramatic, breathless narration took my review from 4 stars to 2. It was only my desire to hear the rest of the story that prevented me returning the book due to poor narration. It was my second time hearing Justine.. I believe in second chances... it will be my last book with her narrating.
That aside, the story was good. If Justine doesn't annoy you, you'll enjoy the book.

Historia
At the turn of the 20th century, in a rural stretch of the Pacific Northwest, a reclusive orchardist, William Talmadge, tends to apples and apricots as if they were loved ones. A gentle man, he's found solace in the sweetness of the fruit he grows and the quiet, beating heart of the land he cultivates. One day, two teenage girls appear and steal his fruit from the market; they later return to the outskirts of his orchard to see the man who gave them no chase. Feral, scared, and very pregnant, the girls take up on Talmadge's land and indulge in his deep reservoir of compassion.

A disaster
Revisado: 02-16-21
Oh, my gosh. I forced myself to restart twice. On third go, I realized it wasn't my attention that was the problem. It's impossible to follow the story, the characters, the plot. I had chosen as a book to fulfill a genre in a challenge so I forced myself to keep listening in hopes at some point it would make a modicum of sense. No such luck. What a waste of time.
