Couldn’t Finish

I couldn’t finish this book. I like a good rom com and made it almost all the way through. However, it just drug on and on. Needless internal dialogues on multiple occasions. By the time I got close to the end of the book, I disliked every character in the book and couldn’t finish. I really don’t care how this book ends, I became totally disinterested and disgusted with the whole story.

Ménage a Not

I figured with the title there was a ménage a trios but I thought I would be a one night thing. I didn’t realize it would be a brother husband story and I didn’t realize how much of a turn off that was for me until I heard it in a story. It was awkward, especially when they come out as a throuple, all three of them holding hands at the park, going on dates, Thanksgiving with the families….no.

Had to Return

I have been an Audible customer for several years. In that time, I have only returned two books. This one had to go back. I made it to the second part of the book hoping the story would pick up and it didn’t. The prologue was good and I was interested then the story just came to an abrupt halt. The dialogue was bland, the characters were bland, the descriptions were bland. When a random puppy came bounding out of the forest to lead the main character to the fae realm it was the straw that broke the camels back.
I agree with other reviewers, it is hard to believe Nora Roberts wrote this. Maybe I shouldn’t have gone from DC Detectives to this….? But still, I was expecting more.

Confused by Order of Episodes

I am wondering if the episodes were uploaded in the wrong order? The oldest episode which should be the start of the season actually ended up being the season finale?? So, I inadvertently listened to the penultimate episode solving the crime right off the bat, and it spoiled the whole thing . I was totally confused the entire episode so maybe should have realized? After that I didn’t want sit and listen to the rest. I am still unsure if the order is intentional and the point is to start at the end and then find out how they got there?? The performance was okay, there were a couple of times people sounded like they were talking through a tin can and one character had a super annoying fake posh voice that was insufferable but I think it was intentional?
I hate to leave a bad review after not listening to the entire season. Maybe someone else understands the order of episodes or can confirm it’s uploaded wrong? Maybe it’s just my phone?

Great Book

Every so often, I will read a really good book that kinda ruins the next few books that I read after because they just don’t measure up. This is one of the books, I was totally immersed and would love for there to be a follow up book.

Too Much

Was it suspenseful, yes, in some places. Was the story decent, yes, in some places. Was there too much politics and too much man bashing, yes, in some places.
The overall arc of the book was men are insecure pigs who can’t handle strong, confident women. The main protagonist is the typical “woman who was right but no one will listen”, she has to constantly lie to everyone around her and put herself in danger to prove her point.
I did like the podcast aspect of the audiobook though, it gave a nice break. Not sure if I would have finished it otherwise.

Predictable

I was actually kind of disappointed with this one. I felt like the story line was predictable and therefore I was able to see the eventual outcome rolling like engine engine number 9.
As far a narration, it was excellent. Santino Fontana did a superb job making me contextualize the main character along with having compassion for him and I will admit it, I was actually rooting for him at different points.
If you are looking for suspense, this may not be the right book for you. I kept waiting for a big plot twist at the end and there really wasn't one. I might be feeling a bit let down because the previous book I read before this one had a satisfying plot twist that made the book end on a great note. But this one felt overly setup from chapter one and never left me guessing what was going to happen next. Maybe this was intentional on the part of the author if so, mission accomplished.
