Great book!
Revisado: 11-28-24
First off, the author does an amazing job narration. He brings all of his characters to life, and I could tell he has personal investment in each one. I really enjoyed the ambiguity of the main character's race. It was a bit obvious that he is white, but as the story progressed I started to wonder if maybe he actually is Native, because of the relationships. Perhaps the author wanted to show that we are all connected like kin, regardless of race. The story was entertaining and awkward, like a typical teenage experience, and there was a delightful dose of magical realism. The author's description of tracking was very enlightening, and I have found myself looking at the ground in a different way. I even tracked goose footprints in the sand on the Oregon coast to find the exact spot where an eagle landed with the goose in its talons. Very fun. Can't wait for the next book!

Ending was disappointing
Revisado: 05-07-20
The premise was awesome and well-executed. However, it’s as though the author chickened out at the end and needed to create a “realistic” explanation for the things the daughter was saying. Unfortunately it left the story full of holes and did not wrap it up nicely. I was hoping for more of a supernatural approach in the vein of Picoult’s Leaving Time or along those lines.

Historia
For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare--poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a US Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force tactical air controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events.

Historia
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

Drop your fucks and thrive. Truly. LOVED this book. I've read many "self help" books. This is one of the best and is really kin to eckhart tolle and Jordan peterson in my opinion. It's entertaining, honest, and refreshing.
