Rambling monologue of unclear and still somehow over-explained technical magic

The story is slow in plot progression and over explained (rambling) in places. There seems to be no end to in depth explanations on hypothetical magical techniques the MC could take but then doesn't.

I enjoyed the world building. The actual plot doesn't make a ton of sense, our MC immediately spills his entire life story to a stranger. I really like Andrew's Arcane Ascension series but this book feels a lot rougher.

Cool setting! Poor execution!

I think the setting was intriguing, and by far the best part of this story. Unfortunately revelations in that topic were either only sort of fleshed out, or at times inconsistent.
The cultivation was not well done. The main character stumbled into every advancement, gathering unearned and shockingly pointless skills.
This leads to the true flaw of this book, it has deus ex machina occur for just about every problem that pops up. The solution always just comes or is given to the protagonist before or during the conflict. They even discuss how lucky they are, but then just keep making bad decisions and getting lucky. Also the MCs interactions with women are, well not quite problematic, but often painfully awkward.
I will probably keep an eye on this author. I did really think the story concept was cool, maybe with experience some of the other issues will flesh out.

A continued dip in quality

This book felt rushed and many of the characters motivations made no sense. Also the MC complains about things not being fair or being disadvantaged while getting totally undeserved and unplanned benefits at every instance. Despite knowing the future all he has done is refused to plan.

I think they suffered from three key problems here. The first is that the main character reacts to things as if he knows how the story is going to go. Its frustrating and his (and others) actions make little sense at the time they aee made. Second, the characters emotional reactions are all over the board. I'd like to chalk that up to character age but it follows no rhyme or reason and doesn't hold with the older characters anyway. Finally, they consistently have characters describe or reference how smart the main character is yet he does very little that is smart. Can't recommend this one.

What a glorious story. Fun and action packed are not strong enough words to describe this book. Absolutely loved it!

The book is not without issues. The pacing could use some work, the characters emotional states seem to vary wildly, his behavior around teenagers is questionable and utilization of the characters main power is tenuous at best. But it's fun, I hope the next books polish this up.

Deus Ex Machina Meets Edgelord

I wanted to like this, I failed. Awkward, directionless, and over emotional. Nothing earned, the mc just gets what he needs randomly.
