I absolutely love every single book Ally Carter has written. This book was the perfect ending to a great series. I would not be sad if she did another series with Cat, Gabrielle, and Hale a little older. The characters are complex and lovable. The plot twist at the end surprised me. I didn’t see it coming. Fun book!

I really enjoy Ally Carter books and the Winterborne books do not disappoint. I liked the 1st one, but this one is even better. April’s complicated relationships with all the adults in her life are skillfully drafted. I absolutely love this series.

Hard, but absolutely necessary

This book was hard to hear, for the exact reason it discusses. This book explains white fragility and it’s damaging impact very clearly. If you want to do the hard work of racial reconciliation, of being an ally, and/or breaking up and interrupting systemic racism, this is where you start. This book is so important as a foundation for doing the hard work. Thank you for opening my eyes and giving me so much to think about and work on, so that I can interrupt racism to the best of my ability.

Loved the story

This was a fast-paced book and I could not wait to hear more. I loved the story, but the reading of it was a little choppy. Every now and then it seemed like the robotic voice you hear on phone calls, with the untimely pauses. Once I got used to it, it didn’t bother me as much. The reader has a soothing voice; it’s just the weird pauses between some words. The story was well worth the awkwardness though.
