the first third of the book had me interested. Then I waited... and waited... the chapters when "Cherry" spoke, it was nothing more than a journal entry of her life;; high points, low points... no points. The other characters made it somewhat bearable to want to know how their lives changed, but overall I was incredibly disappointed, especially after reading other rave reviews. I should ask for a refund on this one! Waste of my listening time.

overly "wordy"

I really wanted to like this. I even stuck through it until the end hoping it wouldn't disappoint. I will say it kept me guessing... The biggest downfall of this book is the overly descriptive scenes. For instance, when describing how bad it's raining, someone is running through the rain onto the front porch, and end up dripping from head to toe, you do not need to continue on with the water dripped from their hair, their clothes were soaked through, their shoes were wet... we already got it! They're drenched. The whole book is filled with this. saying the same thing three or four different ways before getting on with the story. It was really a distraction. This could have been a 4 star book with some good editing.

Excellent information, however....

I enjoyed the information. in the beginning, I felt I was listening to my biography! It is useful information and has helped me see where I need improvement. HOWEVER, the only drawback is the repetitiveness. I understand this is a teaching method, but there were times I literally thought I had gone back to a previous chapter because I was hearing identical information. Overall, a good resource, but be patient.

stop listening a couple of times. powered through. somewhat a waste of time. The ending was as good as it could be. However, the author did a good job with character building.

hmmm... torn

I like Lisa Gardner's style of writing. She had excellent skills in character development and "keep you guessing until the end" skills. Although I still enjoyed this book, the ending pulled together oddly. Some parts were very well knitted together, others, welllllllll... yeah, the thread was a little loose. not bad just a little disappointing at the ending.

When you think you figured it out it's only half the picture. it keeps you guessing till the end...and the main character, Frankie, is perfect for these series. Well written!

so much potential!

a decent storyline, but not the best written. The story has great bones, but there are flashbacks that are very difficult to keep up with. Sometimes, they're prompted and other times they're not. I found myself having to literally say out loud, "oh it's a flashback" after listening for a minute or two. wondering what is going on. The ending was slightly predictable, but decent. This book could have easily been four or five stars with the help of a good editor.

although for a bit 2/3 of the way in I felt the "who cares about these little details? get on with it!" the ending makes the whole book! some is predictable, but not in the way you think it is when the whole story wraps up.. quite intriguing.

I gave it 5 stars, although if half stars were a thing, I would've given it 4.5... not a perfect story, but darned near. This is a story, when you figure things out, you won't think "too predictable" you will think "aha! I knew it!" . and the ending was fitting for a well told story. I enjoyed it.

Slow Burner but good story

It is somewhat of a slow burner, but when the stories converge it makes for an excellent story and a good ending. well done.
