Brief yet engaging and pithy
Revisado: 09-12-20
These short conceptual "how-to" guides are a really wonderful way to break into any number of creative and controversial topics in modern society. In this instance, the listener hits the ground running regarding the legitimacy of the field of philosophy and law as strictly social sciences, not following rigorous logical development.

Intriguing and engrossing, the therapist/narrator engages in multiple deceptions to continue his so-called "pro bono" practice to help wives or girlfriends escape abusive relationships.
An understated comedic effect is also brought out in the narrative by the extreme patriarchal traditionalism exhibited by the therapist. This work may cause the listener to wonder: who has the real delusion?

Brilliant insight and execution!
Revisado: 10-10-19
No pun intended, but the execution here only heightens the intensity of a major historical problem in philosophy:
Why execute those who can teach you the most about life?
Perhaps we'll never know the full reason, but this short, pithy exploration of the socio-economic conditions in Athens, Greece, ripening for political revolt, provide much material for a needed consideration and, in a sense, soothing of our consciences because we all participate in the execution of those who upset our social orders.
In fact, the execution of Socrates ties into the Cross of Christ. He, too, was executed in similar circumstances where the leading Jews were looking for an earthly, political king, but instead found a deplorable spiritual Leader who would not instantiate the revolt against a tyrannous Roma that they so desperately craved.
Well-done, Gentlemen!

Chess can be looked at as advanced checkers, or it can be looked at as a game of skill and strategy. Chess is considered to be a professional game, and some may consider it a sport. The more educated you are in how the game of chess works, the better your odds are of winning. These 10 tips will significantly aid in helping your win record go up substantially.

Revisado: 03-28-18
If you could sum up Chess: How to Win Every Single Time with Just These 10 Tips in three words, what would they be?
Loads of mileage in a compact style. A great deal of ground is covered in short, summary form. It was surprising that it had action, even though it was a description of chess-playing techniques. It felt as though you were on the board, figuring out strategy for your military troops.
What other book might you compare Chess: How to Win Every Single Time with Just These 10 Tips to and why?
Hard to say. The closest that I've heard was an audio on how to clean or organize your life which was a bit longer. However, I cannot recall the exact title of that one.
Which character – as performed by Rick Moore – was your favorite?
It was probably his emphasis on the Bishop who becomes rather important near the end of the game whereas the knight who jumps over other people is more critical in the earlier phases of the game development.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Your chess strategy may be the next winner!
Any additional comments?
So, there was a major emphasis on how the chess men would coordinate to present a unified attack. It would be welcome to have a bit more detail on how certain techniques, when developed organically within an overall strategy, would lead to success. For instance, when one player can utilize a "pin" which is where an opponent's chess character cannot move from its position due to the fact that it would place his or her King in jeopardy. This can be an effective technique, but your entire strategy in chess should not be based on that alone.
Having won several chess tournaments, I can gladly assert that this work is a building-block for greater thoughtfulness in your chess strategy.

A hodgepodge of philosophical ruminations!
Revisado: 01-03-17
Would you consider the audio edition of Logic, Philosophy, and Psychoanalysis to be better than the print version?
I believe that the audio version might have the advantage of surprise over some listeners insofar as the "dialogical" sections would be better suited to audio format. On the other hand, the print version might be preferable in terms of reviewing some very succinct, mathematical definitions, particularly about the nature of sets, before moving forward in the text. Thankfully, the material presented is not done so in such a linear or progressive fashion that would make such textual recourse necessary.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I have to confess that my favorite character was the hypothetical interlocutor who quizzes the primary author about Norma Jean Gradzy's reaction to his work on Kant. This was fairly stimulating!
What about J.-M. Kuczynski’s performance did you like?
The author/narrator engages in a very interesting trick which I have never seen or heard of before, namely, that of recording his own voice in different "poses" or attitudes when he is recording the dialogues. Very creative. Thus, he pulls off slightly different vocal styles and he works toward expanding his range of communicational styles in this work.
If you could give Logic, Philosophy, and Psychoanalysis a new subtitle, what would it be?
Actually, I felt that the existing subtitle was a tad lackluster. I would go with something more along the lines of "Succinct Definitions for Modern Man" or "Analysis of Key Issues for a Sound-Byte Generation."
Any additional comments?
While the author appears to be heavily dependent upon Freud and his school of psychology for many of his insights and definitions in the "psychology" chapters of this work, there are enough broad-based psychological discussion to be of assistance to the undergrad student who may be about to take a Psychology 101 course or something comparable.

Thought-provoking distinctions to mull over!
Revisado: 12-19-16
Where does Psychosis vs. Psychopathy rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It is up there near the top, particularly in the non-fiction category.
What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?
The back-and-forth quality of the dialogue was surprisingly dynamic. I had expected the quality of the exchange to be slightly humdrum, given the topic. The surprise really arose organically as the discussion took on greater levels of analysis.
Which character – as performed by Norma Jean Gradsky and J.-M. Kuczynski – was your favorite?
Norma really gathered steam near the end of the performance, although J.M. added a flourish with an ending a bit like the "Burns and Allen Show." I would probably lean slightly toward Norma due to the strong ending.
What’s the most interesting tidbit you’ve picked up from this book?
The most fascinating move was to delve into the institutional context rather than simply trying to define psychopathy in some abstract way given a particular axiology (ethical, normative value system). When psychopathy was considered contextually and then societally, it really made me wonder about how a trait like lack of compassion can appear to be so ethically healthy or even obligatory.
Any additional comments?
Psychosis was broached at the outset and distinguished from psychopathy. It would be interesting to hear more of an explanation about why psychosis isn't more prevalent in American society and why, for instance, it's virtually absent in other cultures.

Fun and informative Bible trivia guide
Revisado: 02-22-16
What made the experience of listening to Angels in the Bible the most enjoyable?
I enjoyed reviewing some of the references to angels mentioned in the Scriptures...
What was one of the most memorable moments of Angels in the Bible?
The section dealing with the Angel Gabriel's prophecy to Mary that she would bear Christ was the most striking and full of detail in my mind.
Which scene was your favorite?
See above.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No extreme reaction -- just felt like I was being edified and informed through the trivial pursuit type of format.
Any additional comments?
At one point, there may be a few references which are slightly off. The narrator states "First Corinthians" when he probably meant to say "First Chronicles" although I could not ascertain whether that was in the original text or not. Also, for those who have a standard Catholic Bible, not all of the books mentioned in this guide may be provided in your Bible edition.
