Historia
Nyx was born Hollow. An empty vessel in a world of spirits. Normally, that was a death sentence, yet somehow he survived. He's always been stubborn like that. He's also always been a bit crazy. Which is why, in another life, he did something reckless. He sent himself a message—his memories. Threw them into the Flow from which all spirits return. Besides, Nyx believed in asking hard questions. Like, was reincarnation real?

Insufferable voice actor
Revisado: 08-12-24
The read by this voice actor is one of the most annoying media experiences I've had the displeasure of encountering in my entire life of listening to audio books. He goes through extreme pains to read any sentence in the most drawn out, annoying way possible - incredibly distracting.

Dominic Hart was screwed. Diagnosed with terminal cancer, no money for treatment, and an athletic scholarship hanging by a thread...he didn't have many options. But the university clinic had offered him a free video game. Some sort of "therapy", they said. A way to while away the hours until he kicked the bucket. Yay. What Dom wasn't expecting was to get swindled by a surly casino owner right out of the gate. Or get dropped in a backwater hellhole voted the “number one worst starting location in Awaken Online".

Great story... with political lies shoved down
Revisado: 02-22-22
Just read chapter 27 to understand that the author has never read a book on economics.
He is not only equating economic systems to morality - which I have a problem with, as he is essentially demonizing entire swats of the population.
But it's worse than that - the author not only misrepresents the systems he is "borrowing" for his fake fantasy "fights" ...but he does so by INVERTING the traits of the two opposing economic systems.
In his ignorant mind, Capitalism disregards personal choice and only benefits broader society... while socialism apparently is not about the collective, but the individual.
Like what the H is this backwards world about.
Bottomline, when I buy a fantasy book, I want fantasy. Not to be lectured about the author's political ideology.
But if you are a rude fantasy author that MUST lecture, at least dont rub it in our faces and disguise it into the story...not literally borrow pieces from reality
And if you MUST be a rude fantasy author that insists on grabbing unaltered pieces of reality for your fantasy novel... at least don't explicitly make fun of one major side and demonize a lot of your readers
And if you really really MUST be a rude fantasy author that insists on portraying literal reality AND do so in a way that mocks your readers... at the very least get the political and economical ideologies you are representing right, vs essentially mixing up the labels of major opposing ideologies.
This is like onion levels of adding insult to injury

The most dangerous night of the year is upon Coggeshall. Fiends' Night, when the boundary between Vuldranni and hell is the weakest. And so hell comes out to play. To survive the night, Montana must put his entire holding on lockdown and turn hastily made cave apartments into an actual, inviting home for thousands of Coggeshall residents. Most of whom don't really know or like each other. And all of whom have different ideas of what needs to be done on Fiends' Night.

great story- cringe absurd whiteknighting aside
Revisado: 07-23-21
This author is a master at writing funny interactions. His story is great and well crafted. If he would only stop with the absurdly unbelievable white knighting from the main character. The protagonist behaves like a sheltered boy scout who believes all women are sugar and spice and does not treat them as responsible, accountable individuals. Given the author is trying to sell us a gritty back story for the protagonist, this comes across as absurd

Morgan's life is not easy. Growing up on the streets of City Four, he is constantly shunned by the other citizens. Morgan doesn't mind being ignored. What he does mind, though, are the constant beatings from the city guards due to his friendship with Sarah, the city lord's only daughter. Lord Simon wants him dead, but the laws of the kingdom are on Morgan’s side and even the guards won't kill him, just for being seen near his manor. Morgan’s time is running out, though. Lord Simon has deep pockets and his last visit to the manor may just have put him over the edge.

hero is an overpowered, stoic white knight pretending to be clueless about anything regarding the opposite sex. The author tries to push this as endearing. its just trite, contradictory and annoying.

excellent as always
Revisado: 01-06-21
Fantastic. Sole exception being the author's disregard for established canon on cultural attitudes regarding leadership and war proficiency. essentially asking the reader to pretend that an entire people forgets their own very rigid traditions with very minimal fuzz. I suspect this was done for the sake of the rule of cool, where even I agree it's a cool development ....just a nonsensical one as presented.
No one is perfect though. Other than this Sanderson's mastery over the genre is more than evident

Incoherent SJW propaganda shoved down your throat
Revisado: 12-08-20
Loved book 1. This was offensively bad because the author isnt writing a novel, but a progressive PSA. Instead of focusing on telling a coherent plot, the author insists on taking unneccessary and constant, poorly concealed detours to lecture the reader about progressivism & shove self contradictory propaganda at every turn.
Male nerdy mentors? Retconned. They are now evil misogynist perverts with no empathy, veritable batman villains ...unless of course they are 100% selfless and their sole reason for existing is a woman.
Female nerdy mentors? Beautiful but oppressed, sidelined geniuses that go through life putting up with constant stalking from evil nerd perverts. Hyper competent and yet helpless at getting their work and credit constantly stolen.
Female protagonists? Perfect Mary sues. Beautiful, smart, self less, confident, empathetic, ninja cartoons that can do anything virtually or otherwise. When they use emotional arguments its fine, but when used against them its unforgivable. Also they apparently can somehow see the future, so shut up and just always agree with them to be safe.
Male hero protagonist? Nothing special and nothing without his approved diverse cast of friends to constantly bail him out. He is now a useless, presumptuous white male, making reasonable arguments that of course have to be proven wrong by absurd unpredictable events until he dances enough of the mea culpa dance. Once he is done groveling, he is instantly forgiven by the morally superior Mary Sue that was treating him like trash seconds before...just for him to ultimately be proven right all along, sans any credit of course, once plot twist retcon ex machina is resolved and they go with his original stance and plan. Then of course, Mary Sue forgets all the objections and fears that initially caused her to throw a fit and treat him like shit for years.
The moral of this self contradictory SJW space cartoon? Always believe the unjustified feelings/tantrums of all whaman, particularly miss Mary Sue. Reality will reconfigure to ensure they are always right, so believe and amplify them. Yea, great "story" bro.
You advertised a sci-fi novel, so paying customers deserved a sci-fi novel. This was just a fan-fic quasi-dating advert from the author yelling "see everyone? im a good male Feminist ally!". Write this crap on your personal dating blog.

Historia
The Indignities of Being a Woman candidly traces the history of womanhood and investigates how much things have really changed for womankind. By carefully x-raying areas such as body image, marriage, mental illness, fashion, and politics, this audiobook examines what it was like to be a woman in the past versus what it’s like now, when women are constantly told equality between the sexes exists but reality proves otherwise.

Poorly written propaganda
Revisado: 09-28-20
From begging the question, unjustified assertions, implicit judgments and plain old lies - this little propaganda booklet bends itself backwards to make a case for the church of women-worsting.
It masterfully piles on winge after winge and prides itself in finding new and petty areas of life and time to complain about on behalf of the 50% of the population, while casually ignoring the objectively worse contemporary trials of the other 50% that they either want to pretend dont exist or were apparently busy perpetually living it up somehow.

Stephen Leeds is perfectly sane. It's his hallucinations who are mad. A genius of unrivaled aptitude, Stephen can learn any new skill, vocation, or art in a matter of hours. However, to contain all of this, his mind creates hallucinatory people - Stephen calls them aspects - to hold and manifest the information. Wherever he goes, he is joined by a team of imaginary experts to give advice, interpretation, and explanation. He uses them to solve problems...for a price. Then a company hires him to recover stolen property - a camera that can allegedly take pictures of the past....

Historia
Professional heroes kill and loot deadly monsters every day, but Gorm Ingerson's latest quest will be anything but business as usual. The adventuring industry drives the economy of Arth, a world much like our own but with more magic and fewer vowels. Monsters' hoards are claimed, bought by corporate interests, and sold off to plunder funds long before the Heroes' Guild actually kills the beasts. That's a terrible arrangement for the Shadowkin; orcs, goblins, kobolds, and their ilk must apply for to become Noncombatant Paper Carriers to avoid being killed and looted by heroes.
