Sucked in
Revisado: 10-20-24
Started off really strong. I was sucked I. And became vested in the characters and story lines. Toward the middle it started to just drag. It was tied in at the end but it wasn’t anything I was hoping for. Just an ok read.

Heartbreakingly powerful
Revisado: 04-08-24
The power of women is truly remarkable. This story will have you cheering, screaming, raging, gasping, laughing and wishing for the impossible. It is so eloquently written. The women’s pain and anguish rarely acknowledged and always having to just power through for approval and appearances. What this country did to vets of Nam was disgraceful. I had friends and family who served, and they were truly never the same. Thank you for acknowledging the women and men who served their country and honoring them. This story truly moved me. True friendship can survive anything!

Mixed feelings
Revisado: 10-22-23
I have never wanted a book to end so much, yet got sucked in by all the reviews I saw on social media and finished it.
If you suffer from PTSD, SA, or any violent trauma, I would avoid this book. It’s a slow, start, so many characters, at times you forget who they are.
Beautiful friendships, unwavering loyalty, forgiveness and hope, yet I found myself so frustrated with Jude. It was not a tear jerker for me, as so many others shared. I only cried once and it was for Willam. If you decide to listen, prepare your self for a whirlwind of emotions, it doesn’t disappoint there.

Respect yourself Elders
Revisado: 11-22-21
To hear the story of this powerful young woman, her culture, her people, her need to be recognized yet saying she doesn’t. The inner identify battle, the betrayal of those so close and the longing for the love of the first man in her life who should have been the most important person to her, failed her!
It was powerful and poignant, it was painful and so tragic , yet the cultural teachings were just so uplifting and deep in tradition and teachings. Wonderful story!

Just a thought
Revisado: 09-21-21
I immediately became emerged in the story of Tara and Violet. The characters were so relatable and likable! The time frames were easy to follow and intertwined all the characters lives.
It provoked emotions, memories and I loved the bantering. It took me back to my youth and hearing my parents and relatives tell stories and banter back and forth. I could have just kept reading their story. I did however feel frustrated with the way the story wrapped up. Surely there could have been so many other ways to end it!

Historia
It’s been a decade since Trumanell Branson disappeared, leaving only a bloody handprint behind. Her pretty face still hangs like a watchful queen on the posters on the walls of the town’s Baptist church, the police station, and in the high school. They all promise the same thing: We will find you. Meanwhile, Tru's brother, Wyatt, lives as a pariah in the desolation of the old family house, cleared of wrongdoing by the police but tried and sentenced in the court of public opinion and in a new documentary about the crime.

Not my cuppa tea!!!
Revisado: 06-17-21
This was one of those stories that I held on just hoping it would get better. It was dull and the narrators didn’t really help much with telling the story. It was long and drawn out! I will never paint my house white again!
It was interesting to learn about prosthetics, the challenges and life altering way it changes a persons life. For me, that was the highlight of this story!

Historia
From the day that old Nana Reja found a baby abandoned under a bridge, the life of a small Mexican town forever changed. Disfigured and covered in a blanket of bees, little Simonopio is for some locals the stuff of superstition, a child kissed by the devil. But he is welcomed by landowners Francisco and Beatriz Morales, who adopt him and care for him. As he grows up, Simonopio becomes a cause for wonder to the Morales family, because when the uncannily gifted child closes his eyes, he can see what no one else can - visions of all that’s yet to come, both beautiful and dangerous.

Painfully beautiful.
Revisado: 05-05-20
It starts a bit slow, hang in there though. It was a beautiful journey, well worth the slow start. My heart hurt for child with the disfigured face. His beautiful spirit, loyalty and tenacity were endearing. His love for his family and adventurous spirt kept me absorbed in his journey. Listening to the end of Francisco’s journey was so poignant and evoked many emotions for me.

Whodunnit?
Revisado: 05-05-20
Going back and forth between past and present became tedious. The characters accents were so bad. Nothing worse than hanging in there waiting for the whodunnit, and the book ends! I’m still waiting for the whodunnit?
