Super unhealthy relationships
Revisado: 04-26-23
I get they come from traumatic backgrounds, but they characters are too accepting of bad behavior and a man’s actions to own and control a woman being played off as chivalrous. Also the lead lady is a grown woman with a daughter but has the thought process of a 14yo in high school. I like the first in the series and the last. I could do without this one.

Historia
In a sprawling mansion filled with peculiar treasures, January Scaller is a curiosity herself. As the ward of the wealthy Mr. Locke, she feels little different from the artifacts that decorate the halls: carefully maintained, largely ignored, and utterly out of place. Then she finds a strange book. A book that carries the scent of other worlds and tells a tale of secret doors, of love, adventure, and danger. Each page turn reveals impossible truths about the world, and January discovers a story increasingly entwined with her own.

An excellent adventure!
Revisado: 11-21-21
The narrator does a fantastic job of creating different voices. So much so sometimes I thought there were different ppl at times. The beginning confused me a bit. But I was entirely invested in the adventure once it got going and it fed my soul with exactly the kind of thing I needed. The characters and attitudes almost reminded me of the movie The Mummy starring Brendan Fraiser. Would recommend. Gonna try to find other like this book.

Historia
It's 1895, and after the suicide of her mother, 16-year-old Gemma Doyle is shipped off from the life she knows in India to Spence, a proper boarding school in England. Lonely, guilt-ridden, and prone to visions of the future that have an uncomfortable habit of coming true, Gemma's reception there is a chilly one.

NOT THE FULL BOOK
Revisado: 01-31-21
This is an ABRIDGED version and I'm very upset I didn't notice before I bought it and it wasn't clearly marked. I read this trilogy a long time ago and I wanted to listen to it again because I love the adventure and romance. Well it wasn't until I got to the second book that I realized I was still waiting for things to happen that should have already. Although this reader is excellent, don't make the same mistake I did. I promise, the missing passages are absolutely worth including.
