Historia
The intention for Be Your Own Cheerleader is to help professional Asian and South Asian women—who have toggled between the two very different cultures of East and West—thrive in the workplace. When you are raised in the collective we, it is very difficult to make a name and place for yourself in the individual I. Not only are you unskilled in advocating for yourself, but you are also unsure of how to be proud of your work or accomplishments. Neelu Kaur's analysis of various research is at the intersection of leadership and wellness.

On being your own cheerleader
Revisado: 09-05-24
1. Uplifting ideas
2. Interesting case studies
3. A lot of hands on examples of South Asian women
4. The narration needed a little break. It seemed like running too fast.
5. It was nice to hear the author's voice in the narration but it needed a little pause at times vs. running from story to story. Neelu's articulation is clear and sweet but some pauses would have made a lasting impact.
6. Glad to see the book on Audible.
7. Great effort, please keep on inspiring fellow women professionals.

An insightful personal account -
Revisado: 03-26-21
The story is powerful - routine, examples, case studies, applicability to all walks of life and above all focus on avoiding inflammation, improving our vitality, types of exercises, diet and nutrition all pointers were worth listening to. I enjoyed it thoroughly and found the drift to be inspirational. Am planning to add several items in my routine for pliability. Glad I listened in early 2021. Plan to revisit the last few chapters as they are great!

Historia
A few years ago, John Izzo was puzzled that he didn't feel happier. He was a successful consultant, a much-in-demand speaker, and a best-selling author. Sure, he'd had some setbacks and disappointments, but he knew enough to know he had it pretty good. And, as he shows in this book, both ancient wisdom and modern neuroscience say that we're naturally happy - it's our default setting. So why didn't it seem to be his?

Historia
From time to time, we've all experienced coincidences that seem to be endowed with a special meaning or significance, and that appear to defy the laws of probability. For the most part, these coincidences seem amusing or insignificant. But a famous psychologist defined these moments of meaningful coincidence as "Synchronicity".

Historia
Humans are tribal. We need to belong to groups. In many parts of the world, the group identities that matter most - the ones that people will kill and die for - are ethnic, religious, sectarian, or clan-based. But because America tends to see the world in terms of nation-states engaged in great ideological battles - capitalism vs. communism, democracy vs. authoritarianism, the "free world" vs. the "axis of evil" - we are often spectacularly blind to the power of tribal politics. Time and again this blindness has undermined American foreign policy.

A fascinating and gripping read
Revisado: 08-21-18
Amy continues to peel the layers of the American culture make up and all tribes that contribute - where they come from, how do they operate, and nuances. I am not in favor of putting Afghan tribes over its border Pakistan. Some of her political tribes seem to be from a small lens and being influenced by a small faction vs. speaking with entities from all tribes. Obviously, we all are on a journey in this ever evolving and learning planet. I understand that a writer has to take a perspective and weave a tale around it. Well, if I am part of the other tribe, I would like my perspective to be incorporated in the tale vs. being told a one sided point of view. Despite that, I am a huge fan of Amy's clarity and diction. One of my favorites in modern day America's culture nuances expert with room to further evolve. Political Tribes is a fascinating read after reading Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mom and Triple Package. Please keep on bringing out your new works.
