Historia
Whether we call it the inner critic, superego, or just plain nag, most of us have a "judge within" who's constantly on our case. A comprehensive guide to understanding how the inner critic works, this book offers practical, positive suggestions for breaking free of it. Using straightforward language and examples from everyday life, Byron Brown shows: Where the inner judge came from. How it operates. Why it trips us up. Why we believe we need it. How to develop awareness of it. How to disengage from it.

Historia
What happens when the President of the United States governs one Tweet at a time? When the elected leader of the free world may not have a firm grasp on the names of government agencies, much less an understanding of their intricate inner-workings? In the days following the 2016 inauguration, government personnel searched for answers that didn’t exist, while White House staff scoured halls for employees who would never be appointed.

You will cry for different reasons
Revisado: 06-17-22
It's not a political book although it talks about politics. It's a pro-science / anti-stupidity book. I found the information very balanced. The personal stories of American government employees had me crying in anger and in happiness. Nice to hear women's point of view too. Overall an amazingly well written book. Definitely recommend 👍

Horrible Narration, Didn't finish Chapter 1
Revisado: 10-16-21
I can't speak for the book because I couldn't get passed the horrible narrator's constant mispronunciations. She sounded like someone reading without comprehending the context. Worst narrator I have heard.

Hit or miss- hit if you’re an affluent white American with low self esteem
Revisado: 08-21-21
Most of the tips only apply to American situations, bars aren’t like that outside of the US. Tells you to believe that “you are better than everyone here”. While I’m all for boosting self-esteem I don’t think this was the right approach. Seemed narcissistic.
Other methods to self improvement included buying new clothes called “costumes” and trips to foreign places or hotel stays in a neighboring town.
Some tips were accurate but take it all with a grain of salt and leave the rest.
Author doesn’t mention the dangers of NSA encounters or how to spot a negative situation either. This book isn’t for everyone but works for white ladies with money, 3 stars.
The white girl voices were spot on haha. Great job narrator!

Written from a male perspective for men
Revisado: 08-21-21
The book is not balanced. This book is written to teach men how to manipulate women. It only offers techniques on body language for men which is not the same for women. Even worse the author is incorrect in assuming all women manipulate men and “want the red carpet treatment”. The author doesn’t seem to understand women and therefore resorts to manipulation techniques.
It also doesn’t mention how to read women’s body language of “I’m not interested. Leave me alone.”
Narrator was good. I only listened bc of the narrator and to understand the author’s perspective but sadly it didn’t offer any good advice.

Historia
Scholars, journalists, and politicians uphold Muslim-ruled medieval Spain - "al-Andalus" - as a multicultural paradise, a place where Muslims, Christians, and Jews lived in harmony. There is only one problem with this widely accepted account: It is a myth. In this groundbreaking book, Northwestern University scholar Darío Fernández-Morera tells the full story of Islamic Spain. As professors, politicians, and pundits continue to celebrate Islamic Spain for its "multiculturalism" and "diversity", Fernández-Morera sets the record straight.

Greece in the age of heroes. Patroclus, an awkward young prince, has been exiled to the kingdom of Phthia to be raised in the shadow of King Peleus and his golden son, Achilles. “The best of all the Greeks”—strong, beautiful, and the child of a goddess—Achilles is everything the shamed Patroclus is not. Yet despite their differences, the boys become steadfast companions. Their bond deepens as they grow into young men and become skilled in the arts of war and medicine—much to the displeasure and the fury of Achilles’ mother, Thetis, a cruel sea goddess with a hatred of mortals.

Historia
In 1912, scientist Marie Curie spent two months on the British seaside at the home of Hertha Ayrton, an accomplished mathematician, inventor, and suffragette. At the time, Curie was in the throes of a scandal in France over her affair with Paul Langevin, which threatened to overshadow the accomplishment of her second Nobel Prize. Performed by Kate Mulgrew and Francesca Faridany at the Minetta Lane Theatre, this play by Lauren Gunderson is an ode to two remarkable women.
