Historia
In his best-selling book Falling Upward, Richard Rohr talked about ego (or the False Self) and how it gets in the way of spiritual maturity. But if there's a False Self, is there also a True Self? What is it? How is it found? This book likens True Self to a diamond, buried deep within us, formed under the intense pressure of our lives, that must be searched for, uncovered, separated from all the debris of ego that surrounds it. In a sense True Self must, like Jesus, be resurrected, and that process is not resuscitation but transformation.

Deep waters
Revisado: 09-13-22
I felt seen as I read this. It affirmed things I’ve been experiencing and being called into.
I love when things are named and explained that you know through experience but don’t know how to explain.
A significant and life-changing book.
I remember reading it a year ago and feeling like it was too abstract for me then and I couldn’t connect. This time I was ready.
So very grateful.

Historia
Biblical womanhood - the belief that God designed women to be submissive wives, virtuous mothers, and joyful homemakers - pervades North American Christianity. From choices about careers to roles in local churches to relationship dynamics, this belief shapes the everyday lives of evangelical women. Yet biblical womanhood isn't biblical, says Baylor University historian Beth Allison Barr. It was born in a series of clearly definable historical moments.

Brilliant!
Revisado: 08-02-21
Historical. Insightful. Well-rounded. Smart.
Made me love Jesus more while becoming very angry at the systems of this world that would use His name in vain to oppress people.
This is a very important book!

This podcast is vital
Revisado: 07-25-21
After 30 years of being an intentional, practicing Christian I thought I knew a lot. This podcast blew me away with so many things I had never heard before. It helped me to untwist a lot of unhealthy beliefs. I’ve shared this with several friends and they all gleaned so much they had to share it around, too.
It’s so very worth your time!

The Trinity is supposed to be the central doctrine grounding Christianity, yet we're often told that we shouldn't attempt to understand it because it's a mystery. But what if we breached that mystery? How might it transform our relationship with God?

Well-rounded. Thoughtful. Deep.
I feel so much more connected to the Trinity and life than I did before this book.
I listened to it twice back to back.

This is a tale of sorrow, a tale of survival, a tale of one man's search for meaning in his universe, and how that search, and the indomitable will that drove it, gave birth to a legend.

The performance!
Revisado: 02-20-16
The performance by Nick Podehl really makes this story extra special. It was brilliant on it's own but he really brought something extra to the book. It is difficult to imagine Kvothe having any other voice. I really enjoyed this!
