How Could You Trust a Dead Girl?

It was okay. I was expecting more because of how much hype this book got online. There were aspects of the vampire lore that was different and made for a more interesting story. I didn’t really care about the whole death oracle storyline even though that was the MAIN storyline. It’s worth listening to once but it’s not really something I’ll find myself coming back to.

The Longest 16hrs of My Life

I didn’t think this book would ever end. I keep having to read these blasted Greek myth retellings because my best friend picks them out for book club. I thought I’d at least have the romance to keep my attention but even that was lame. I rolled my eyes so much I got dizzy. The story is old… literally. Nothing new here. Miles and Van were cute but even they couldn’t save this.

…I know you didn’t end this book like that, expecting me to wait 6 months to find out how it ends. I love Will Herondale with my whole heart and soul but when he showed up at that blasted train station I wanted to choke him. Chain of Thorns is about to be insane. This is not the time for a love triangle though. Matthew is a lovely character and I want him to have his own epic romance. Cordelia and James are meant to be and having Matthew wedging himself in the middle of that is annoying… to say the least. Alastair and Thomas! I’ve been rooting for them since Chain of Gold and I’m pleased as punch with their interactions in Chain of Iron. Lucie and Jesse… oh my goodness! I live for this ship and I need it to sail, baby. I need it to sail. How is this book so romantic? Ugh. I love it. Is it January 2023 yet??? I can’t wait to find out what happens next!

Herondale’s Love but Once

Oh, Will Herondale, how I’ve missed you. I’m so excited for new characters! Anna Lightwood is a stone cold fox, ya’ll. I cannot wait to start Chain of Iron. The story is fast paced, romantic, and thrilling. Something for everyone.

I’m thankful for any additional time I get with Jem Carstairs. You’ll need to read The Mortal Instruments, The Infernal Devices, and The Dark Artifices before you read this. Don’t skip this one! There is important plot included for The Last Hours and the upcoming The Wicked Powers. This isn’t filler. It’s important!

Nic and Adam are toxic asf. This boy gaslit her to infinity, and little miss girlboss stayed undone for 10 years. 10 years! It didn’t take much for them to fall into bed together, just a gay affair and a decrepit cat. Shoutout to Nic’s brother Val who is the only employee at the Department of Other People’s Business (D.O.P.B.). I enjoyed this train wreck far too much.

A ‘Not Looking for Romance’ Romance

Miss Skyler is on a self-imposed year long ‘man-batical’, so when she meets Caleb, the ‘hottest man ever’, she really thinks she’s not going to get it in. She’s happy being single. False. That’s so false it’s almost the dreaded ‘fake news’. The man-batical lasts a total of three days before she gets dickmatized by Caleb. You can listen to this in under half an hour. It’s great to put on while getting ready in the morning. Cute story with a happily ever after - what you expect when you see the name Lauren Blakely.

Break my heart into a thousand little pieces is what Wanda Jean would do. Get ready to cry. Luke and Emmett are such likable characters. I was rooting for them from the moment they met. This book is beautiful. I love country music and I love love.

I’m giving this five stars because I want more books in this series and I want more queer books from this publisher. I’m highly annoyed with the ending of this book, but I have high hopes about future installments. This has all my favorite tropes; enemies to lovers, there was only one bed, mate bonds. I really hate the ending of this book.

Cameron Lassiter is not only book boyfriend material, he’s book husband material. Fake dating itches my heart in just the right way. Couple that with the man falling first. So lovely. There was little I didn’t like about this book. My main issue was Kenya’s parents. They felt very “mean parents in a fan fiction” and they caused so much unnecessary and annoying drama. In fact, Kenya’s parents could be removed entirely from this book at it would still be just as good and the ending would be just as satisfying.
