Historia
Anthony Fauci is arguably the most famous–and most revered–doctor in the world today. His role guiding America sanely and calmly through Covid (and through the torrents of Trump) earned him the trust of millions during one of the most terrifying periods in modern American history, but this was only the most recent of the global epidemics in which Dr. Fauci played a major role. His crucial role in researching HIV and bringing AIDS into sympathetic public view and his leadership in navigating the Ebola, SARS, West Nile, and anthrax crises, make him truly an American hero.

What a touching and poignant story of a mentor and his pupil. Such a valuable experience not only for all the people Mr. Schwartz mentored but for the rest of us. The world could use more life mentors like Mr. Schwartz.

Historia
Half-Korean, half-Japanese, Masaji Ishikawa has spent his whole life feeling like a man without a country. This feeling only deepened when his family moved from Japan to North Korea when Ishikawa was just thirteen years old, and unwittingly became members of the lowest social caste. His father, himself a Korean national, was lured to the new Communist country by promises of abundant work, education for his children, and a higher station in society. But the reality of their new life was far from utopian.

Michael J. Fox is an amazing man. From the moment I first saw him in Family Ties, it was evident that he is special. He gives the rest of us hope and is such a light in this world. So glad to be on this planet the same time he is. How inspiring.

Historia
In 1985, Anthony Ray Hinton was arrested and charged with two counts of capital murder in Alabama. Stunned, confused, and only 29 years old, Hinton knew that it was a case of mistaken identity and believed that the truth would prove his innocence and ultimately set him free. But with an incompetent defense attorney and a different system of justice for a poor black man in the South, Hinton was sentenced to death by electrocution. He spent his first three years on Death Row at Holman State Prison in despairing silence.

Poignant Story
Revisado: 01-10-19
This book had the most affect on our book club. What Ray Hinton and others like him had to endure is moving and sad, and incomprehensible. He has a great spirit though, and faith which, along with his mother and best friend Lester, saw him through countless hours of darkness.
