Story is just ok. Not sure if some of it is how it's performed, but this story feels very forced. The plot is a clever idea that's not executed that well. The best I can compare it is like listening to someone trying desperately to sell a lie who says way too much with too many oddly super specific very random details. There's a lot of telling everything rather than showing it. The heroine is strong and modern, sort of. Rather she should be, but somehow comes off stubborn, aggressive and contrary for the sake of being stubborn, aggressive and contrary. She really only seems to think about how upset she is and Tamlin. For someone who's kept her family alive and spends a lot of time on her own, she acts & thinks more like someone who rarely thinks anything through at all, more like a stubborn spoiled child. If she is so child like, the romance with Tamlin falls more into person of authority abusing power over ignorant teen, than truly romantic.... After part one and half of part two, not sure I'll invest any more time with this

Content- wise it's a bit like a dictionary of diseases being read with the occasional personal story. Barry C. Fox may be an expert on infectious disease but is very lacking as a teacher in this format. This course is pretty light on the science end of disease and is mostly an extremely long PSA. It's a difficult topic to address without making people paranoid. He definitely tries not to do this, however in effect he bounces between don't go outside or do anything, the world is too dangerous, and be scared of the overuse of antibiotics, with a bit of awkward nonchalance thrown in. This course sounds like the sort of presentation a student would make during class, making a point to include all the requirements for the project.

There's got to be someone out there who knows this subject and has some talent for public speaking. I wish The Great Courses would do a redo.

I find it difficult to believe she is a legit teacher or professor. She has some good information but could seriously use some education in teaching, speech making & how to relate to people. Cameron may be good at a class leading breathing exercises but is terrible at teaching an intellectual class. Her tone of voice is annoying and comes off hokey at best and at worst will put you straight to sleep. I wish she put less effort into trying to relax everyone into a coma and more into keeping listeners engaged. Unfortunately her attempts to relate her own experience are so general (rather than describing her specific emotions and reasons for/ history behind struggling to cope with said emotions) they make her come across as disconnected & entitled rather than relatable, let alone educational. Really wish this lecture had more of an academic focus to it instead of what you might simply find in a yoga class with a couple extra citations thrown in for good measure.

She speaks annoyingly chipper no matter what she's saying; think stereotypical bouncy blonde from TV. Also, FYI apparently this is less lecture and more boring cookbook :/ The science chunks are nice but then there's too much recipe part for mundane tasks like cooking plain oatmeal...
