Historia
Real estate mogul Sean Jackson is throwing himself a splashy 50th birthday party, but trouble starts almost immediately: His ex-wife has sent his teenage daughters to the party without telling him; his current wife has fired the nanny; and he's finding it difficult to sneak away to his mistress. Then something truly terrible happens: one of his three-year-old twins goes missing. No trace of her is ever found. The attendees of the party, nicknamed the Jackson Associates by the press, become infamous overnight.

Tedious
Revisado: 02-26-18
There are some books that you just want to keep listening to, can't wait to get back to and/or hate when they end. For me, this was just the opposite. I don't like not finishing books so I trudged on through to the end of this one--and it seemed to go on forever. The characters were unlikable. Going back and forth in time was annoying. Predictable ending. Not much here for me to like...

Historia
Thea Osborne hopes to spend a quiet Christmas house sitting for the Shepherds in the picturesque village of Stanton. Walks in the local countryside with the dogs and perhaps a meal in the pub are all the excitement she wants. When her arrival at the village coincides with the funeral of local businessman Douglas Callendar, found electrocuted in his bath, Thea's interest is stirred but the onset of flu looks to prevent any sleuthing.

Tedious
Revisado: 06-06-15
I have not read anything by this author before but enjoy a good cozy mystery. Unfortunately, in my opinion, this was not one. The mystery in this story took a back seat to the main character's constant whining of "I've got flu!" More time is spent on her flu, her lack of anyone to help her, her trials and tribulations of dog sitting, etc., etc., than the murders/possible murders. All was tied up neatly (and rather quickly) in the end. Perhaps this is a book that might be better read than listened to, as you could skim over some of the incessant whining. I listened to the entire thing because I hate to leave books unfinished but, by the end, I didn't particularly even care "whodunnit".

Historia
They call him the Devil Earl - a scoundrel and accused murderer who grew up on the violent London streets. A proper young lady risks more than her reputation when consorting with the roguishly handsome Lucian Langdon, but Lady Catherine Mabry believes she has no choice. To protect those she loves, she would do anything-even strike a bargain with the devil himself. Lucian desires respectability and a wife above all else, but the woman of his choosing lacks the social graces to be accepted by the aristocracy.

Seemed to Last Forever
Revisado: 04-25-13
Is there anything you would change about this book?
I found the plot to be predictable and the story seemed to go on forever. There was much that could have been deleted without really changing the plot. I got incredibly tired of hearing how the H had "always loved Franny".
Would you be willing to try another book from Lorraine Heath? Why or why not?
No. There are so many books and so little time. I would prefer to read/listen to those I enjoy more. For this genre, I will stick with Julia Quinn, Julie Ann Long, Sarah MacLean, etc.
What three words best describe Susan Ericksen and Antony Ferguson ’s voice?
Antony Ferguson was fine. Susan Ericksen had a breathy, overly dramatic presentation that I did not enjoy.

Historia
Bellamy Lyston was only 12 years old when her older sister Susan was killed on a stormy Memorial Day. Bellamy's fear of storms is a legacy of the tornado that destroyed the crime scene along with her memory of what really happened during the day's most devastating moments. Now, 18 years later, Bellamy has written a sensational, best-selling novel based on Susan's murder. Because the book was inspired by the tragic event that still pains her family, she published it under a pseudonym to protect them from unwanted publicity. But an opportunistic reporter for a tabloid newspaper discovers that the book is based on fact....

Excellent!
Revisado: 12-09-12
After listening to, and really enjoying, "Envy" by Sandra Brown, I thought I would try this book. I reserve five stars for those books that I would definitely listen to again. This is one of those books. Both the story and the narrator kept me listening to the point where I hated to stop. I did not find the outcome to be predictable. I will definitely be looking for more of this author's work.

Historia
Little else in life is as dangerous as fire jumping. Flying past towering pillars of smoke, parachuting down to the edge of an all-consuming blaze, shoveling and sawing for hours upon hours, days at a time, all to hold the line and push back against the raw power of Mother Nature. But there’s also little else as thrilling - at least to Rowan Tripp. The Missoula smoke jumpers are one of the most exclusive firefighting squads in the nation, and the job is in Rowan’s blood: her father is a legend in the field. She’s been fighting fires since her eighteenth birthday.

Somewhat Disappointed
Revisado: 11-22-12
I generally enjoy Nora Roberts' work but found this one to be not quite as interesting/entertaining as usual. While I recognize the characters were fire jumpers, it seemed as though there was an excess of fire jumping in the story--when not actually jumping, the characters frequently were ruminating about jumping. It seemed more like filler than something that actually added to the story. The narrator wasn't bad but for the fact that male characters were distinguished by a kind of nasally tone, similar to a person with a cold or sinus infection. The ending was predictable--there was no real "who done it?" aspect to this story for me. Thus, an O.K. listen, but not something I will listen to again.
