The vampire was hot. The sex scenes were good. Didn’t finish though. Virginity obsession was weird. No one bleeds that much. Virginity is a social construct and cannot be smelled even by a hot vampire.

Vaginas do not become permanently loose after sex. Full stop. The size of his dick or the quantity of sex does not change this fact. Women are the main market for this genre. I love this genre. Stop propagating harmful myths about your main audience.

I made it through the first story and half way through the second. The narrator is awful. The stories are probably great but I can’t review them because I can’t listen any longer.

God awful

The narrator is monotone and uninspiring. The plot is very thin and there’s not even any good romance to make up for it. Seriously, don’t bother.

Voice is amazing

Catrina is a dumb B, but the voice of Jamie makes up for everything. I could listen to him read the phone book.

The narrator sounds like Siri. There is no emotion and no inflection. Not romantic at all.

I couldn’t get past the first chapter. Anne Flosnik’s voice is completely wrong and grating.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No, not really. I LOVED Outlander....but Drums of Autumn has lost me. It was long and boring and introduced too many new characters that I couldn't care less about.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

More romance. I don't need unnecessary gratuitous sex scenes....but in a book this long, one sex scene isn't enough, especially if its one between characters that aren't Jamie and Claire.

Any additional comments?

This will probably be my last Outlander book. I may go back and listen to the first one again though, for the third time.

What does Pablo Schreiber bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Pablo Schreiber does an excellent job voice the narrator. You believe that it really is Bateman talking. It is not Schreiber's fault that Bateman like to give long detailed monologues about designer clothing.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
The murder scenes, though few and far between, are graphic and do give an interesting insight into Bateman's psychotic mind. I wish the author would have discussed the clean up more and how it made Bateman feel.
Update 05/16/22: The insight into Bateman's mind is incredible. It is what drew me to relisten. Every listen I pick up on some other little detail. The tedium hides the horror.

Despite being about a psychotic killer in Manhattan, this book is mind numbingly boring. I cannot listen to another sentence about what he's wearing and where they are going to dinner. I haven't seen the movie, but general consensus is that it might be better, which isn't something I say often.
Update 05/16/22: Bateman is an unreliable narrator. So much so that even the accounts of the murders cannot be fully trusted. This is by no means my favorite book, but it does intrigue me. We can never truly know the inner monologues of other people.
