Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish, expertly perform their traveloir as the Odd Couple on a history tour, with hilarious banter occasionally jerking the wheel to the present. Charlotte Reather's deft narrative shaping gives the book the feel of a seat at the fireside with two whisky-loosened storytellers letting their passion for Scotland and life as a whole carry them, and you, away into the wee hours.

Filled with history and laced through with the author's personal narrative, this book is an introduction to empowering individual minds to work for needed policy changes. Kendi unmuddies the distinctions between racism, assimilationism, and anti-racism and points the reader toward goals for positive and effective change-making.
The only criticism I have is that the author occasionally overused a whisper-yelling technique, maybe developed in college instructing, that grates on the ears.

I couldn't finish listening to this book. I found the observations and advice predictable and patronizing.

I found it difficult to listen long to this course. I found little in this course that wasn't common sense for the novice writer. The narrator/teacher speaks slowly, with long pauses as if she's about to say something significant, and then delivers a trope or some assumption any reader of creative nonfiction would know. Maybe if I'd listened past the first 3 hours, it would have blown my mind, but I couldn't bear it any longer.
