We were not created to just get by with average, unrewarding or unfulfilling lives. God created us to leave our marks on our generations. Every person has seeds of greatness planted within by the Creator. When life weighs upon us, pushing us down, limiting our thinking, labeling us in negative ways, we have what it takes to overcome and rise above into the fullness of our destinies.

This is in English! not "¡DÉ EL SALTO! "
Revisado: 01-03-21
This is an English audiobook. I don't know what "¡DÉ EL SALTO!" is but it isn't this.
I love this audiobook. It is my goto when I am feeling discouraged. I know Osteen doesn't preach the full gospel but I really value the encouraging message he gives.
I love his voice too. He is upbeat but soothing and gentle and listening to him always encourages me and helps me put things into perspective.
Many of the Bible stories he uses to illustrate his points are presented in a new perspective and he has really opened up scripture for me.

Historia
Martin Gilbert, the official biographer of Winston Churchill, offers a complete history of World War II. It began with the German invasion of Poland on September 1, 1939. By the time it came to an end on V-Day - August 14, 1945 - it had involved every major power, and had become global in its reach. In the final accounting, it would turn out to be - in both human terms and material resources - the costliest war in history, taking the lives of forty-six million people.

Not really history & it doesn't really cover WWII
Revisado: 03-25-20
This is basically a series of human interest stories about the victims of the war in Europe. There is nothing about the causes of the war and almost nothing about the leaders or the generals or the strategy and tactics of the battles. There is very little about the war in the Pacific. In a sense, this is an extremely modern book because it focuses almost exclusively on the victims. (Also, the focus is on the victims of the Nazis; very little about the victims of the Russians.) There are a lot of human interest stories about the horrors of war and the senseless deaths of non-combatants in Europe. If that is what you are looking for then this is the book for you.
I object to the way this book is titled and marketed as a WWII history. I wanted a conventional one volume history of WWII. I already knew that the Nazis were bad and that innocent people died during this war. I am going to return this book.

Tornadoes, cyclones, tsunamis… Weather can be deadly – especially when it strikes without warning. Millions of Americans could soon find themselves at the mercy of violent weather if the public data behind lifesaving storm alerts gets privatized for personal gain. In his first Audible Original feature, New York Times best-selling author and journalist Michael Lewis delivers hard-hitting research on not-so-random weather data – and how Washington plans to release it.

Not what I was hoping for at all. Interesting subject, very biased presentation. I liked the narrator.

Historia
In this grand poetic vision of the universe, Lawrence Krauss tells the dramatic story of the discovery of the hidden world that underlies reality - and our place within it. Reality is not what you think or sense - it’s weird, wild, and counterintuitive, and its inner workings seem at least as implausible as the idea that something can come from nothing. With his trademark wit and accessible style, Krauss leads us to realms so small that they are invisible to microscopes, to the birth and rebirth of light, and into the natural forces that govern our existence.

Mean spirited rant against religion
Revisado: 08-06-18
I bought this book because I love listening to popular science books. I expected this book to be about the origins of the universe and the history of scientific explorations of our cosmos. This book turned out to be a very nasty, petty rant against religions and the people who believe in them with a thin veneer of scientific exploration. The author is incapable of saying anything about science without accompanying it with snide remarks about religion. I love reading books written from different perspectives but the problem here is not the author's perspective; it is the relentless, single minded, mean spirited harping about the evils of religion and the foolishness of anyone who takes religion seriously. What an ugly book! The only reason I haven't returned it is that I've been busy and I'm procrastinating. I need to put "return that horrible book" at the top of my to do list.

Historia
Thomas Merton is one of the most famous American Catholic authors of the twentieth century. A prolific writer, Merton published 36 books and collections of poems over the span of 27 years, and has 38 posthumous publications that bear his name. Even more impressive than his voluminous output, however, is his deep spirituality that enraptured generations of people seeking intimate union with God.

This is a dreadful reading
Revisado: 08-08-17
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I would not recommend it. It is written at a level appropriate for a child and the narration is dreadful.
What other book might you compare Thomas Merton to and why?
You would be much better off reading Seven Storey Mountain.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The narrator has difficulty pronouncing simple words and names. For example, he cannot pronounce Bermuda or Cicero. This is just painful to listen to.
Was Thomas Merton worth the listening time?
It is very short so I suppose so.
Any additional comments?
Didn't anyone listen to this before they put it up for sale? Good grief!

Loud Music!
Revisado: 05-29-17
The stories are beautiful and the narration is perfect but the stories are separated by very LOUD music. I found it very stressful to listen to. Also the music is not melodic and is very intense. This would have been so lovely without the music!
