Historia
It’s the summer of 2007, and Mookie Hooper returns to Camp Cartwright with a huge secret: This is going to be her final summer at camp. So this has to be her best summer yet! Without anything to investigate, this is finally Mookie’s time to be a camper. She’s going to spend time with her buddy Carter Ruben-Rubens, finally make it into the inside of an inside joke with Fanny and her bunk, and possibly attempt a contact sport. The only thing that would put the summer over the top? Getting her first kiss. But that seems fairly unlikely since Squirrel Girl isn’t exactly anyone’s first crush.

engaging, fun
Revisado: 03-25-25
I love listening to this series again and again. such a fun story. there was a moment in 3 where I was like, wait where are we going why are we having a story? but no, Mooki is figuring out how to be a person, how to help people, and this is the season we find out who Kelly is.

Historia
Hockey coach Ashley Jaswal doesn't take nonsense from anyone … except her overbearing and superstitious family. They believe she's a good luck charm for her brother Jas, the newest Vancouver Canucks draft pick, forcing Ash to attend all his games as he rises up the NHL ranks, sacrificing her personal life (not that she has one—who decided hockey season needed to be 10 months long anyway?). Ash also clashes with Jas’s teammate, Canucks captain Devin Snyder.

life reflection
Revisado: 01-11-25
I like these little stories, when they have an important theme in the book, that makes you check your own life and the people around you. if you're willing to take a stranger's review into consideration like I do, I'd say this was worth the listen, it was engaging.

It’s officially booty o’clock, I’m alone again in my kitchen choking down a slice of terrible chocolate cake…and I’m pretty sure I just got drunk texted by the man I have a ginormous crush on. I’ve been daydreaming about Eliot Hoffman’s dimples for two months, and even though I’m sure this was a mistake on his end, it doesn’t mean it’s not an opportunity on mine. It’s the middle of the night, and I just wanna talk to him. So I text him back.

easy listen, similar setting
Revisado: 11-02-24
easy to be engaged, likeable characters in same setting as the first book. would recommend listening to the first book to understand this one better, because the big reveal in the first book was included. but, POV from this main character didn't add much, it seems like it was added for length, could've been summarized. difference between female character and her father voice acting too similar. I like that both of these books so far have a viewpoint/realization that is poignant and applicable to life.

Paint your toes. Pick up the wrong coffee and bagel order. Drive from Brooklyn to Jersey in traffic so slow you want to tear your hair out. It’s amazing all the useless things I can accomplish while on hold for three hours with customer service. Three hours when I should be getting the Date-in-a-Box website ready to launch at the big business expo in a few days. Except my shiny new website is glitching, and my inner rage-monster is ready to scorch some earth...when he finally picks up. Not the robot voice I expected but a real live human named Kal.

good story, engaging

better than I thought it would be. engaging story, a big moment of realization that made me audibly react. sometimes the female voice was a little overdramatic.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

so engaging, I missed my exit
Revisado: 10-03-22
this series was so engaging, i missed my exit for gas. thats what I look for in an audiobook.
the writing style and the way Mookie speaks, its definitely aimed at kids not 20-somethings like me. it has the tone of something a kid would focus on and their flair for dramatics. but again, I enjoyed the story!
and to the reviewer complaining about the thongs, if you'd listened, it was an anxious Australian referring to flip-flops.
10/10 will listen again.

unexpectedly good and informative
Revisado: 10-03-22
I enjoyed listening to this book. it was engaging. these days, that's what I value most in an audiobook. as a 20-something female not intending to have children, it was still an insightful topic, and will open up conversations with my family. I will recommend to friends with children and in-laws, maybe they'll gain some insight how to handle new grandparents.

Historia
Jacob Tomsky has worked in hotels for more than a decade, doing everything from valet parking to manning the front desk. He's checked you in, checked you out, separated your white panties from the white bed sheets, parked your car, tasted your room service, cleaned your toilet, denied you a late check out, given you a wake-up call, eaten M&Ms out of your mini-bar, laughed at your jokes, and taken your money. And in Heads in Beds, he pulls back the curtain on the hospitality business.

a fun easy listen
Revisado: 06-26-22
this book is so fun. I like how each chapter is a new role he takes on. the 'reminiscent New Orleans' chapter is my favorite for the loving description. he reads the whole book well. originally I got this book when I was in the hotel industry, but now that I'm not it's just an enjoyable listen with tips I still recommend to people.

Historia
Elsewhere is where 15-year-old Liz Hall ends up, after she has died. It is a place so like Earth, yet completely different. Here Liz will age backward from the day of her death until she becomes a baby again and returns to Earth. But Liz wants to turn 16, not 14 again. She wants to get her driver's license. She wants to graduate from high school and go to college. And now that she's dead, Liz is being forced to live a life she doesn't want.

a tween book but good all around
Revisado: 07-15-21
This was one of my favorite books as a tween. The ending always made me tear up even rereading it. As an adult, I was worried I would find it too juvenile. I would say it's still a nice story and the whole concept of aging backwards is fascinating to think about. However, her mopiness went on a little long but it's understandable as death at a young age is difficult to come to grips with. The book keeps my attention and that's what I like.

Recruited as a codebreaker of enemy ciphers, ex-debutante Osla Kendall spends her days translating Axis military messages and her nights reading mystery novels. When Osla gets her hands on Agatha Christie's most recent work, N or M?, a mysterious signal within its pages catches her eye, and she and her eccentric book club get in touch with the famous but reclusive writer. Osla's outreach is a welcome distraction for Agatha, who feels restless and underestimated toiling away in a London pharmacy.
