Historia
Madeleine Verchère's story is based on a true account of colonial French Canada of the 1690s. Harassed by Iroquois, the Verchère family's fort must keep a continual guard. 14-year-old Madeleine is left alone with two younger brothers and few others when the Indians attack. We follow the brave and determined stratagems of Madeleine and her small circle. Madeleine's youthful leadership, especially of her brothers, will win the reader's admiration.

Great story, not great narrator
Revisado: 03-10-23
No hate towards the narrator of this story, but i did not like the way she had read. she paused a lot, was slow, didn’t have a different voice for any characters, didn’t have emotion, sounded similar to a robot, sounded as if it was all different recordings for each sentence, and overall just wasn’t the right fit. I loved the story! it was a great story to show selflessness, bravery, and to have faith in God! if the story had a better narrator it would be great. if you just wanted to hear the story, you could probably order the book. but if you don’t mind the narrating quality i guess this would be great! anyways i rate the overall experience a 6/10.

I love this story
Revisado: 02-16-23
this was such a good story! the narrator was pretty good. i sped up the audio to 1.3 up to 1.5, it just seemed a little slow when it was normal, but other than that i loved it! I love Joan of arc and wanted to know more about ehr and this book was great! i could concentrate and stay focused, i love this story!

Historia
This acclaimed story of World War II is rich in suspense, characterization, plot, and spiritual truth. Every element of occupied Holland is united in a story of courage and hope: a hidden Jewish child, an underdiver, a downed RAF pilot, an imaginative, daring underground hero, and the small things of family life which surprisingly carry on in the midst of oppression.

Wonderful story of history, wisdom, and faith
Revisado: 03-24-22
This is a great book to read with children. It speaks of the German occupation of Holland, tells stories of how neighbors were responsible for each other, explains the true hardships people endured, and eventually describes the liberation of the Dutch. There are very good life lessons with a wonderful understanding of history.
