Loved it. Disappointed there is no 2nd book yet😔
Revisado: 03-17-22
If you've read the Middle Falls Time Travel series you will love this one-I highly recommend this book (and the Middle Falls books if you like this one!)Very fun. My only issue with the book is actually a sign I loved the book-I was very disappointed to find out there was no 2nd book available. Reload is available for pre-order in October 2022 on Kindle but sadly it does not seem to be available on Audible as of yet. I doubt this will happen but If the author happens to read this review, I hope you consider releasing Reload on Audible too & I hope you use the same narrator because he was awesome! Im hoping to see an Audible release of book 2 asap!
Happy reading, everyone😊

Loved it. Music/sound effects too loud tho.
Revisado: 03-01-22
Please let there b more of these! Everything was great except for the overly loud sound effects and music. I get it was supposed to b loud at times but all the way thru it the music/sound effects were loud but I couldn't turn it down cuz I wouldn't b able to hear the voice actors. Other than that minor issue which is a personal preference/issue, it was good so the sound didn't detract from the story.
It was much better than I thought it would be and I hope to see more asap.

Historia
There are three ways up to Castle View from the town of Castle Rock: Route 117, Pleasant Road, and the Suicide Stairs. Every day in the summer of 1974, 12-year-old Gwendy Peterson has taken the stairs, which are held by strong (if time-rusted) iron bolts and zigzag up the cliffside. At the top of the stairs, Gwendy catches her breath and listens to the shouts of the kids on the playground. One day a stranger calls to Gwendy: "Hey, girl. Come on over here for a bit. We ought to palaver, you and me."

Where's the rest?
Revisado: 01-28-22
The story has huge potential but the reader walks away with a bad feeling of "Where's the rest?"
I love the main character, Gwendy, as a child. As an adult, the story felt rushed. It felt like the story was rushed to get a finished product. The ending is left open(which makes sense because there are 2 more books in the series)
I feel this could have been one book and probably would have been a solid 4 stars.
The performance was great so that brought the story up a bit. If I could change one thing it would be the whole thing would be one book or maybe 2 but definitely not 3. The price of almost 10 bucks is astronomically high for the amount of story you get. King has spoiled us & we have come to expect longer stories. That said, if you like King then you will either like or at least consider this "ok but..." I am looking forward to hearing the rest so Im continuing on to book 2 now.

Bronson Pinochot is the best!
Revisado: 12-09-21
Mr Pinchot could read a grocery list and make it sound good-He almost does just that when he reads advertisements in another book called Horrorstor which I didn't care for, but not due to Mr. Pinchot-he made it bearable.
In a book called Ambergris, he reads "footnotes" in an extremely hysterical way-It gets funnier as he goes.
As for this book, I love all the old school silly det movies & books so I loved it. Not a long and realistic novel here but it did pass the time & had me laughing. If you dislike silly slightly dark humor mixed with an old school film Noir feel this one isn't for you. But if you like hearing ridiculous antics & daydreams of a mediocre to inept detective mixed with Walter Mitty then you will love this. Longer than a short story but much shorter than a full novel it will have some shaking their heads and some laughing. I just want to know what happened with "Smith Smith & the Shadow People"
*Spoiler Alert-it is disappointing that readers don't find out. I guess we have to use our imagination for that one!
Happy Reading to you😆

Loved it.
Revisado: 08-04-21
The narrator took a good minute to get used to and at times his way of pausing after every 3 or 4 words was annoying(my husband hated that more than I did but he liked the story enough to ask me how it all turned out) I barely noticed it after the first chapter. Parts of this reminded me of an old short story about a gang of outlaws, one of whom caught flies & did a magic trick with them & some thread(if you don't know that one, look it up!)
If you're lookin for a super scary or supernatural story you may be disappointed in this one because it isn't one of those but listen anyway because the story is well worth it. I was sad it ended so soon. I wanted it to go on but isn't that what a great story is all about-If you don't want it to end it means you're enjoying it. Some might hate the end, some might love it. As for me, I neither love nor hate it because in my mind the story continues.

Story and Narrator are great. Hope there's more!
Revisado: 04-04-21
Aside from a few unnecessarily descriptive sexual scenes, I loved this book.
The narrator is superb and he really fits as the main character's voice. I hope the author gives us more Usher tales with the same narrator because he is Usher in my opinion. I'd be happy with the Pilgrim making another appearance or 2 to try to mess things up as well. Actually, I would love a whole book of Thomas & Sarah's ghostly encounters with some more of Thomas's past thrown in for us. Everyone should try to listen to Pretty Little Dead Things first if possible-I loved it too. I wouldn't say he is scarier than Stephen King(as someone said) I would say he's a great storyteller with his own spooky style. It's always refreshing to listen to a good, original horror author.
Enjoy both stories in the dark if possible to give them that extra spooky feel🙂

Wasn't sure at first, but it was pretty good.
Revisado: 03-10-21
Wasn't sure if I'd like this at first. It was entertaining in a way similar to the way a true crime novel is "entertaining."
While the events are obviously a bit over the top to be real the book makes the reader(listener)ignore that fact at times. If you like true crime novels or documentaries, you might like this one since it reads like one. I do wish there was more about the 2 creepy warthog people and them sending hotel guy postcards(scary!) but other than that, I liked the story. Both of the narrators' performances were great. I love Luke Daniel's southern accents & I plan to search for more books read by him. I was surprised to see this in the Prime Access library. Looking forward to the author's other book called "Pack."
Happy listening, ya'll.

Revisado: 01-13-21
Nocturnal Transmissions is always fun-It seems like those old school radio shows my parents & grandparents told me about(think creepshow and crypt keeper on audio) Sometimes too short but hey, its hard to do these once a fortnight. Rapture was a longer story and it was fantastic. Waiting for the next story to come out🙂

Something for everyone-
Well, Everyone that likes horror(and I do!)
Love the narrator-Great voice, great performances of some new stories and some of the old classics! Fun to just turn out the lights and get lost in one scary story after another
The only thing I'd change is I'd make it where u can use the arrows to go to the next episode instead of it going to the most recent episode. Its not a big deal but it is a tad annoying to have to manually go to each one when you're comfy in the dark(or like me-hiding under the covers🤣)

Revisado: 12-27-20
Pretty good. I like short horror stories(and scifi stories)a lot. There are a few different spooky tales along with the main story. Good horror is cheesy a lot of the time-this was a little bit of spooky with a bit of comedy & horror chessieness thrown in the mix.. I enjoyed it. The narrator was good. He has a nice voice.. His narration didn't get in the way of the stories like some narrators tend to do. All in all as my header says-It was fun. Listen to this one at night with the lights out for funner effect.
